Mmmm mmmm, RB just doesn't stop giving! Another fantastically joyful day playing in the swells with Rob, Ben, PaulM, Tugboat, and many other OGs. Felt lighter when I started so I went with my 6m and that got me up easily and not too OP'd. Thrived in some wonderfully smooth swell just beyond Clover. Lots of faux-flags with the wing luffing but ready to re-engage to avoid losing the wave. Switched to my old 5.3m Naish and proved it was still fully functional. 14th day foiling out of 20 makes June joyful!

One run out on the big board then in for the Omen 60L. Great swells off Clover. Been working on heel side tacks last few sessions and it's paying off. Tried to tack onto a swell flagged out but timing is tricky. Got to start figuring out toe side tacks.

Short session started 4.0 hard to get board out of the truck but dropped. No problem to foil in gusts but under between. Progress on gybes. On one was nicely around and lost it suddenly. Falling I was shocked to see the foil coming up. Thought I missed it then thought just a slight graze and kept sailing. An hour later unbalanced into a hematoma. Pressure bandage and elevation and all good. Not bad as ULR surgery!

A weird day with ominous vibe. Slightly overcast, flat light, steel grey waters. Fell repeatedly at the start, found myself looking for a buoy to swim to and hang on to catch my breath. A vague distant tune rattling around in my head. I'm down again! A wave pushes me toward my board as I'm simultaneously kicking away from it. Nuh Nuh. shite that hurt, back up and standing, blood running over the rails. Nuh Nuh. Look down and my middle toe has a large floppy scallop of flesh down near the base, can't tell if ... (more)

Fun day, glad I went. Pretty light at first but the DW board worked well but felt very big. Thankfully the wind came up a bit and went to the small board. Some fun outside swell shared mostly with Shaggy and toeless ULR. Oh and Poper got in my way and made me crash on the wave of the day.

Couldnt find the groove. Scratched my board starting off the outflow, but did get it going from there. 580 was not going to cut it, so came in and switched to 780 and the wind picked up within 15 mins, so came back in and went backed to 580. Maybe was getting better, but I had to leave for dinner. 5M OR wing feels like its losing its magic.

A cruisy Friday session - perfect for exploring. I ventured over to Cook St for a bit since that's what all my greatest hero's seem to do. Then I made my way offshore of Clover Pt and found some good waves. Big Wave and I shared a wave on converging paths, and as we did we looked deeply into each other's eyes and I think held hands for a moment. Overcome with emotion Dave wiped out and I laughed maniacally. Next off to Hollywood Cres to avoid the crowd and work on turns -- lots of them today!

Quiet morning at the lake. Sausage, Eggs and HAshbrowns for breaky. Came up to the tkts right away so rigged 5m and small board and 1125cms foil. A bit light but doable for 2 hours then came in for lunch. Lighter so back out on the 6.0m and Airbolt 120 board and 1125cm2 foil. A bit up and down in the afternoon but being able to jibe and foot switch light wind is okay. After 4.5 hours I was pretty tired so came in for Corona and chips. Very light conditions - caught a gust in the bay to get outside and had fun playing around in the mellow seas. Loving the new board for light wind starts- crazy low end! Word is fishing is pretty good right now as evidenced by the increased boat traffic so definitely wise to do plenty of checks on the surroundings.

light wind session. Had the right low end gear to make it easy to get on foil and had to keep my form tight to make sure on my jibes and tacs. Came in after 45min to check on my dog (yes windows were open) and as soon as I got to the beach the wind shut off. Hung around to see if it would come back but wasn't worth it in the end.

Arrived to light but serviceable wind. Self-launched and went to the windward side. Quite southerly wind led to runs that were parallel to the beach. It was a nice light wind session where I just mowed the lawn and focused on foot changes and one tack. No wind swell waves to speak of so just cruising instead. The wind waned and I had to come in. I had the whole point and bay to myself, it was very nice.

Dip. Ran errands in Hood River mid-day and was VERY pleased that Mark at Big Winds was able to help me get the set screw sorted on the slot box on my Quad 78 (sized up to a 5 mm grub screw). Second win was it looks like the Lampoei Thai Food truck has moved to Bingen and will be reopening soon! Quick evening session to cap the day. The crew opted to stay at the Hatchery for the afternoon. Launched from the cove to avoid the main bee hive of wings up at the point. Heather and Johnny were both rocking w ... (more)

Down and Up. Morning session to start the day off. Looked angry and a touch unsettled at first and just about headed back to Hood River to run errands. Then it filled in and started to look more consistent and more inviting. Two wings and three windsurfers sharing the morning wind an swell. Then I thought I spotted Alex down at the Hatchery so when the wind started to build I did a downwinder to the Hatchery to join him for a few runs. Swell was rolling well and nice and clean off the point at the Hat ... (more)

Positive OSRs from Paul and Lancer persuaded me to leave household chores for a chance at flight. Lancer was resting from his jibefest when I arrived and it felt like light big 6.2m winds. Got up ok and joined Paul, PaulM, docMark in the ankle high swells. Staying up was ok, but the upwind jibe needed focus, pumping and luck. The big 2050 foil would have been a better choice. Tugboat and other foilers joined in later, but the winds were reducing. I got in before the full lull wanting more, but happy with wh ... (more)

Underwhelming but got most of the hour foiling with some vigorous pumping. Didn't foil all the way through any gybes but got very close - on two I was around when I ran out of lift and was able to jump my feet around and come out dry - hadn't managed that on the narrow board before. Progress!

Well...I think we were all a little desperate :) Hopeful signs at the top of the session that faded after 20 minutes. A few of us waited it out as there seemed to be potential. No joy. Time for dinner[/url]

Felt crappy but wanted to relax at the lake anyways, good call, feel much better since getting here. YES! 1st fully foiling jibes today. No touchdown. Huge step forward today. Must have made 10-15 of them. Switching feet no problem now!! WooHoo!! Feels so good I was woohoo'ing myself as no one else around. 50 of the best kms I've foiled today. Making the jibes clean and switching feel clean is amazing!! Tried the PTM-999 and it was magic!! Had the longer fuse on too. Went out on the smaller 115 Quattro ... (more)

First session we found some fun swells off clover pt that gradually shrunk as the ebb weakened. Second session I never really found consistent swells, but lots of sailors out.

PM. Pulled out a 3.8 again, but this one was one of the new ones. First time using it. Seemed more stable and more maneuverable ' hard to imagine, but they did it! Some nice big rolling swell in the main channel! Some strong gusts and a few lulls, but more consistent then the morning session at the Hatchery! A little disappointed that one of the slot box screws mounts is stripped on my 79 (hope the one remaining screw continues to hold until I can get it repaired. Nice to get to sail the two 3.8' ... AM. Morning session at the Hatchery, with Johnny and Heather, sort of. One local mentioned that windsurfing still has a community here but other sports including winging are popular with the tourists. Wind strong (enough for 3.8/79) and was solid when I took to the water from the small point by the washrooms. Then sailed down to the cove (when I realized I had forgotten my helmet). Then had enough power to sail up to the point proper, before the wind got punchy. Called the session early and had lunch an ... (more)
