Not the clearing westerly I was hoping for. YarrowPt. seems to be very representative of what goes on in Pat Bay, unlike VicAirport. You can see how I was too late for the party arriving for 6pm, but once again the soonest I could arrive. Few flights. Should have swapped for 1010 png. Highlight was porpoises surfacing about 20 feet from me when I was sitting in the middle of the bay being patient.

First session at Willows today! Nice low tide offered lots of beach for launching and a nice easy access. Decided on the 7m, which was perfect initially as the wind started off strong and consistent but as it started to waver a bit for the second half of the session I was wishing I was on my 10m. Any which way it was an awesome session with a few onlookers but no real crowds... even with the scheduled Surfrider Beach Cleanup. Better than yesterday! Didn't even bother with gloves, straight into it after Easter eggs, Pancakes and bacon.
Great waves wrapping off the point and reforming into sweet lefts by the road curve. Almost wish I was Goofy, but still some great backside rides. Rode for two hours, all to myself, like a piggy at the trough. Gratitude!
Windier, warmer and better waves, DB is a great spot (shhhhh!!)

April 9th 2023, I finally planed! water starts were mint and couldn't of have a better session. After finally planing on big blue with the 6.2 the wind really ramped up fast.. got out the carve and threw the 5.0 on and had about 15min of solid wind then if just died... welp thats that. Poor kiteboarder with a pirate kite had to basically the walk around the whole lagoon to get back to his rigging spot. After a fun morning warmup at Tillicum, drove to Willows in my wet wetsuit to save time, and met Bobson on a break with a 3.7 rigged but he reported the wind dropping. I rigged 3.7 anyway, was mostly well powered, The gusts still had plenty of punch. It dropped like a rock to nothing just as I decided to come into the beach, but I managed to foil right in. Another nice session a Willows albeit too short. Lots of beach on the low tide, consistent wind and not too many walkers, so self launching was ok. Also the camper and his shopping cart who were close to the launch earlier in week have moved along creating a bit more space. In the water, the large crowd of pink skinned swimmers holding their hands above their heads made for an interesting downwind obstacle. Amazing chest high wave rides from mile marker to Centennial ... endless bottom turns on glassy sections with 50 ft spacing. Surprisingly easy to tack upwind on 5m from Centennial to the boat launch. Fun sharing the waves with Michael.

What? Repeat? 94/4.7 lit w/waves, lasted a bit then petered out :( 110/5.0 comes out, gets lighter, I see Udder barely upright, promptly blow my only gybe of the day, way out, jeez. Easter swim ensues. Get a start near shore & work my way back upwind. Then planing, great waves build, pighouse then Udderland going off! Some sweetest sets of the day so smooth OMG! Jelly gets a sesh in, the remaining gang scores. Eastman is still out there!

Well, if I knew it was going to be that windy I would have brought a different foil even though that one worked well. Watching and waiting for the wind this morning. It started at IV slowly but with the low tide I decided to wait for Willows. BOOM! it went from 3 to 25kts so packed the man-van and headed to Willows. Arrived at 10:45 to it blowing 20-25kts. Decided to rig the 3.7m Goya and by the time I was rigged and wetsuit on it was blowing 25+ so I flattened the 3.7m. Good Call!! One other Winger out but ... (more)

Started out adequately powered on the 4.0. Struggled to make sense of the swell and chop and crashed a lot of gybes. When the wind dropped and I could not feel my hands anymore I packed it in. Seems like it ramped up a lot later, exactly as not forecast. Not exactly an awesome session but still good to get out and get some time on the new foil. Tough shorebreak, swells in the bay, and an onshore wind were the obstacles to get past to get to the sweet foiling zone. After a few crashes, I made it to Willows Valhalla and happily did laps from MTI to Cattle Point. Great to have a big group of oldies including Whoopson, Danno, and MtnarG play in the swells with me.

Zoom. Zoom. Looks like the contractor got a little enthusiastic about the beach clean-up. Tsawwassen was on it early on wing. I took to the water as the wind inhaled and was undergunned on 4.5/92 until the wind rebounded. Some semi-organized wind swell trains rolling through off out from Centennial. Once I had enough power to drive upwind I joined Tsawwassen in the wind swell garden off the second bank out from 3rd. Fun spot that ' some with girth and a few crumblers. 13:00 Tea House, Locals already working the swell in 15kts, MtnarG rushing to the shore breaks with a 6.0. Good swell lines just off the beach and inside CP. Near perfect conditions to practice flagging and tuning jibes.

Great day!
A fair bit of E in the wind made it hard to read the conditions from the parking lot, almost pumped my 10m but fortunately Philippe with the local knowledge sagely advised on the 7m. Quite lit for the next hour with 1'-2' of depower pulled, even with the Covid weight and layers of rubber. Some skinny guy keeps wearing my harness'.

Shit timing. 20+ when arrived. Waited for a break in the surf for like 10 minutes. Went for it, got up and it had tanked to like 15. Came back in, pumped up 6.5, got a couple flights but tanked to like 5. People even started arriving with bbq's . Shoulda named this fucking Picnic Beach

COVID #2 a week ago, and a week away at a conference, what a fantastic return home. Loving the Taka, thanks Ozzy. Rigged exactly right, fun rides, one working when I trimmed my fins on the reef, having to chase my gear to the beach. Great rides deep into the udderland. Maybe another day tomorrow'. Who needs Easter eggs!

Close to 8 start, fully wound flat 4.7/85 not really manageable. Crew on 4.0. Every bit of equipment wasn't right, couldn't be me? Settled in. Great waves disappearing but man did they come back! Almost killed Pauli today, f&??kr! Pighouse break hrs later as tide dropped, then Udderland for my longest couple of waves ever here! Many backloop attempts, arms 2' longer, AJ beers while staunching bleeding hands.
Sail 9-10 wave 8-9 jump 7 Happy Easter!

Perfect wave day. Early morning session (SSE 20-25 on 8m+surfboard) had the best waist to chest high wave rides between the boat launch to Centennial. Late morning / early afternoon (SSE 25g30 on 6m+surfboard) had glassy waves.
Huge turnout ... even plenty of visitors from Squamish
