Fun after work session. Felt decently powered but with intermittent, doubt creating, holes in the wind power. Nonetheless it was overall really good. I decided not to go into the shore break b/c of the wind holes and b/c I didn't want to get worked in the washing machine today. I came in close enough to ride the swells before they broke and that was some fun. A big ass sea lion popped up in front of me, in the middle distance, and hollered loud enough that I fell off my board :-). I didn't see him agai ... (more)

Frustrating day. Tweezer excused me from work so went to IVFC to ~5-10knots and a long walk. Wind line way out in Victoria. Gave up waiting and started driving when I discovered Tweezer had lied and got a call from a welder who was coming to my site in 5 minutes, so had to go back to work.

After that drove to Vic. Went to Clover and watched for a bit wondering if my skill level was adequate. Nice rollers but crashing waves off the point which I intended to avoid. But first hitch out seemed to climb a ... (more)

Sketchy self launch, super gusty and inconsistent but always love a kite at Willows. 4 kites out and one winger. The wind picked up significantly around 3, to the point where it was too much for 9/10 so most of the kites came in.

Arrived to 20kts and no one around. I wanted to test out the SuperCruiser 1700cm2 front foil and 330cm2 stabilizer and the 102cm fuselage with the long 95cm mast. Well, it worked how I thought. It felt super slow and lifty. I was able to stand on top of the board, instead of hiked out, and it felt very turny and relaxed. I was averaging 25km/h but on some gybes I was at 20km/h and still foiling. CRAZY!! Mtnarg was out with me and then Gautham walked his gear to the beach then a little while later H-Rock sho ... Really up and down. Still really fun despite the gear changes. Nice to ride the 925 with the 205 tail for the first time. Really turny! In the lighter wind also tried the 1225 with Flow 235 tail, red shim. Worked great and will be the go to SUP foil combo for me. Ginxu is definitely trickier in light, gusty wind. Gotta be on your balance game. Otherwise it's great if there's breeze. No watch again.

Highrocker arrived a bit later and appeared to be doing well on his 5m. Some big lulls broken up by big gusts. 5m was perfect for me. Very nice session.

After that lunch session failure I went back 3:30 to a much better tide, wind was still good & odd decent wave came along. Getting into a cold suit because some moron didn't warm it by the fire wasn't fun but I joined AJ for the end of his sesh. Shortly after he left the wind kicked down making 5.0/94 a job. Still no real waves :( I considered a fully wound 5.7 /110 combo to get another easy hour but my abused ski feet stumps voted hot tub!

    1-3feet, nasty chop
    0.50 hours
Lemming session, I wanted to hang with the gang, was too early (or way late) for a decent tide. Wind was semi solid steady 5.0/94 but the chop killed me. So disorganized thought I'd damage the board and body. Small waves breaking onto 1 foot of water, perfect concussion set up. After hitting fins twice I called it. Not a fine outing

I tried Willows first and that was glass. Got into the RB game very late - may have been the last winger in the water - likely past 630. But, the near future forecasts looked pathetic so I had to get a little bit of air. My 6mX3 was the perfect tool for me. No need to pump to fly and the wing was predictable in the gusts out by the point. I played in the swells and got a few sweet DH runs in. Still lots for me to learn. I need to get out there and just watch the pros and how it's done. Just a short session, ... (more)

Finally got to play at the adult playground today. Wow. The waves were rolling in hot right out front of Clover. It was fun to watch Tweezer, URL, Sam and others catching wave after wave. I grabbed the front handle of the wing twice and ripped down the face of a few waves before my face met the water. Other than the faceplants, what an incredible feeling. Looking forward to some more wave riding in the near future!! Stoke is high. Thanks for the good vibes everyone. Jack

Great evening session with a big crew on the windward side of clover. 5 kitefoilers and a couple of twin tippers. Still pretty cold but great to be out until almost 8 with plenty of daylight.

Straight to RB after work. Arrived at 4:30pm, looked good, 12-15kts right to the beach so rigged the 4.5m as it was supposed to increase. well, not that much. On the water at 4:45pm and it was still 12-15kts outside for the first 45mins which left me quite under powered. I had to pump quite a bit to keep going and even then I hit some holes and fell off the foil. The WING crowd began showing up, MarkA, Rupp-Dogg, Tweez and others, yup, they just kept coming. After the first 45 mins it started to pick up to ... (more)

Saw some wind on the BWD cam so headed down to RB. Arrived at 3pm and in the water by 3:15pm. Schlogged out to the wind and did some long runs towards Trial Is. and then wind started picking up on the outside so made my runs shorter staying inside Ross Bay. All of a sudden it died and then turned offshore so did a couple more runs with the offshore wind then worried about the huge black cloud and wind dying, I schlogged up back into shore and called it a day. Nice surprise Sunday afternoon session. That 7.0 ... (more)

Bit of wonky weather to begin with... with a touch of thunder as we entered we weren't sure what we were in for, but we chose our timing perfectly and had an awesome couple hours... frosty breeze but some lovely sun shining through.

Tough launch with a squall approaching.. people walking around the beach with no clue.. fun while the squall passed and gusting conditions eased fairly quick after.. mostly powered up on the TT but it switched off a little with the new sunshine.. people downwind off clover and upwind at fonyo... made a quick rip up on the duke to round the Glimpse Reefs then a quick downwinder back to the spiral stair.. fun session

    Great vibe on the bay!

Squally but moderate to strong wind all day. 6,5,4m, never got it right. I unboxed a new 5m Cabrina X3, loved it so much, I sailed OP with it for most of the session. The 4m seemed to be the tool of choice all around. Good crowd chasing waves. I like those windows!

Drove from Tofino, unpacked wing gear, off to RB! 4m felt like a good call, but up and down wind. Handles feel natural now and don't think I'd want to go back to the previous version now! Ginxu feeling better and better as I get used to it, and the longer mast felt perfect. This set up feels really nice for getting going early and still turning well, going pretty fast, and boosting potentially. Will get straps on next time! MA1225 is tough to want to change out as it's just so well rounded in all wind stren ... (more)

First proper session of 2023. A bit challenging with the up/down wind and waves but managed to get a bit dialed in with the new foil. Love the extra mast length over my old one. 'Nuke, die, repeat' wind conditions. There was no gear combo that was right all of the time so I just stuck with what I started with. Looking forward to a more steady wind session for the new board. Regretted rigging the 4M when I saw tweezer go back out on 5M but after a few minutes a squall came through with a bunch more wind and 4 was a bit too much good for half an hour and then up and down after that sometimes waiting for gusts to get on foil. Super fun despite fluctuating wind got a few nice S turns starting to get the hang of flagging out somewhat. Always lots to learn.
