Nice after work session. Nice to have a group on the windward side of clover. Some wingers made their way around and a bunch of kiters were all mixing it up with a large sea lion who was claiming his territory. A bit gusty and variable from NW to W but overall very enjoyable.

Fun sunny spring session. First spend some time on the Ross Bay side then headed over to to Cook St side. At one point I was following BWD up wind towards Finlayson Pt then breaking off and spending the rest of the time around the spiral staircase. There were a few lulls and a few gusts but overall a fun session!

What a great session: sunny, swelly and smooth strong wind. Everything went without a hitch and certainly made up for my lame tiki session at IV the other day. I did, however, have to watch out for a Dad and his two kids flying 2-line kites in a rather haphazard way (hard crashes) while I was setting up but they finished up by the time I was ready and I had an easy self-launch. It was looking so promising but never took off. Tried to get out on a gust with the my 1099 and 5M but I needed something bigger. As a result, I listed west and than got stuck in coral shallows with my longest mast (stupid). Learned about what's underneath the bay nearer to the water plant...the hard way...lol. All good learnings.

Stunning Mt Baker glacier over silver seas.
Perfect mild conditions today at CP/Willows. Good time to hone our foil skills in the safety of the bay. For me, today was all about wing and foil pairing. Finding my most efficient combo, enough sail for lift and not too much for maneuverability. I was tempted to open the tacking chapter but too cold yet for the inevitable crashes associated with this progression phase. I opted for long reaches all afternoon with a happy crew of foilers.

Wind shift caused Danno, MtnarG, and I to switch from CP to Willows. Dan and I went 5m, while MtnarG went 6m. Downwind foil was good, upwind wasn't quite enough and we both switched to Cab6. Good choice. Continuous foiling for me, except for the gybes I can't do yet. Made it out to the channel markers on the islets where there was swell but the wind was more consistent in the high range. Met Highrocker and idefix at Cattle Pt. Wind started shifting more East, so we moved to Willows. Wind was a bit up and down. Did the first session on the 6m. Came off the water for a break as the wind was getting a bit light. Pumped the 8m. Wind came back up, but I stuck with the big gun. Excellent day. Nice to have a warm wind.

Well that didn't go how I had hoped. First time on my new to me 14.5 A-Series Flite and it was awesome. However, I was not so awesome and neither was the wind or ebb current. As has happened to me a few times before, when I am just starting a session and not yet in the groove, I come off the board on my first gybe and somehow it gets way upwind of me. Decided with wind and sunshine I should take afternoon off. Done! Arrived at CP to 12-15kts from NNE almost directly into the 2nd boat ramp. No one around, H-Rock, Danno and Mtnarg went to Willows. I rigged up the 5.2m as it was perfect yesterday to I was a little underpowered as there were lots of big holes with nothing. It'll be interesting to see how much foiling vs. non-foiling there was. 930 launch and powered up on the 4.2M and 1350cm2 foil. Overpowered in the gusts for the first hour and even in the lulls. Then a perfectly powered two hours with some big swell on a rapidly ebbing tide. Gusty again near the end but still windy when I left the water. Just Jerin and I on wings and a few kites out. Nice sunny day and exceptional NE.

Another good session on the 6.5m in Sidney. Definitely would have gone with 5m as it was pushing low 20s when arrived but its in for repair. But diminished to sub 20 fairly quickly anyways. Few hitches to get up to Sidney pier area with ebb tide. Sometimes bigger chop near Green Can buoy, but not so much today. Slight wave action but too high frequency to ride anything (for me). Water noticeably warmer and comfy in the 5/4.

A pleasant Monday sail!
14:00 North boat ramp. Sent out a quick OSR "Perfect CP conditions. Sunny, some white caps and solid 15+kts." Put in with the 5.0 and 1250cm. Fun session with the home team, HRock, Bobson, Tuna, Rupdog and Tweezer testing a shiny Mantis V3.
Sunny, but kept the mittens on.

Foiling in sunshine has a sweetness all it's own. Ruppdog was already in with a 4, Danno was going in with a 5, with Bobson also going 5. Of course that meant that I go Cab6. Danno was skeptical, but I know my laziness to pump for lift quite well. Great choice for me. Instant flight and I was never in search of thrust. 9/10. Pretty great session with lots of smiling faces. Heard that H-Rock and Danno were heading to CP so took off work early. Arrived H-Rock rigging his 6.2m and to Rupp-Dogg on a 4 and Danno on his 5. Looked a bit holey with good gusts so rigged the 5.2m Flyer. Showed up at the beach with very low expectations to the point where I just went out on a SUP to stretch it out a bit, and then the wind came....I quickly switched up tech and started things on a 5m only to step down to a 4m very quickly. Conditions felt less forgiving than yesterday but the swell was perfect.
I trashed my Axis 930 HPS on some corral. This was actually a weird relief because I initially thought I might have hit a giant turtle (they're everywhere) and I immediately felt horrible.

In Tofino for a week and picked up my new KT Direct Drive wings (hard handles). Thank you, Vickey!! Tried the 5M in very light South Chesterman wind and was impressed with the handles, though they change the handling a little, so I'll need a session or two to adjust. Took some absolutely bizarre falls during light air transitions that felt sketchy! The 1850 is a session saver and felt surprisingly fast and nimble on the 795 mast with Surf tail 205. Arrived to some white caps and Bobson flying way outside. Seemed windy, Rupdog was humming and hawing, I convinced him it was windy and we proceeded to go for it. I rigged the 4m, little did I know the cunning Rupert had hedged his bets and rigged a 5m. Bobson was coming off the water and said 4 was good, I'd be fine, lots of wind. Another epic session at Ka'a. Very inconsistent gusts though. On more than one occasion, 4m was totally overwhelmed. And then at one point every single wing-foiler (50ish) all flapping around waiting for wind for about five minutes. Whereas at Dallas, everyone seems to start swimming for shore at this point, Ka'a crew just waits it out and than, bam, 25-30 knots and everyone is up and tearing along. Experience level is really high out here. Inspired place to learn and develop.

All I can say is WOW! For a no-wind day, Cordova Bay was AMAZING. Lance and I had a great session. 15-18 Kts with 1'-2' chop until later when the 3' swell hit. Great opportunity to practice riding toe-side on waves. Didn't have much luck with gybes today. I only did one that I liked '? Great day to wing.

Surprise!!! Forecast had 10-11kts which I would have been happy with but Surprise!! I finished my yard work chores at home and looked at my phone and saw 15-17kts at IV so headed straight there. Arrived to a chilly 15kts as far as the eye could see, low tide and a lot of wave action out in the current just past the sandbar. rigged up the 5.2 Flyer and my 'go-to' foil setup and headed down to the shoreline which was a ways away. ha! Larry and I just were launching (Clover / Cook) and had barely 10mins! I came in early cause knew it would die quickly.. Larry ended up past clover and even past Ross Bay but got a ride home!

Epic session ender crash put me in crutches. Over powered stock air turned out of control spin loop with a huge gust of wind. Failed to eject back foot. Ouch!!
Hobbled up the beach. Big thanks to Francois for grabbing me Ice and the rest of the crew for helping me carry and de-rig my gear. Lucky not bone damage.
