Surprise gale with XL seas! Tried the 925 on the new mast. Whoa! Sports car acceleration and great glide/control even overpowered. Neg shim not needed on HA foils/new mast. Will try no shim next 925 day. 3m would have been great, but hung on to 4m. Some great rides and fun to rip around with just Tweezer and ULR . Awesome ocean oriented weekend around my Bday last Friday.

Deleted my morning session and will use this one. After not the greatest morning session at CP, I went home and did some family things and when I finished noticed it was windy so darted to Willows to find approx 10 Wangs out. So rigged up the 4.5m Flyer as quick as I could, didn't want to waste time changing the foil from the big board to the small board so just took out the 150 which wasn't the greatest in 25kts but managed. Persistence!! Went to Willows this morning, no bueno. Went home and then to Costco with wife gaining some credits. Then headed to IV as it looked doable. It wasn't. Waited 45 mins and still no bueno, although it was close. Decided to try CP. well' best choice of the day besides the jumbo hot dog at Costco. I'd given up for the day when GF said esquimalt reading was 15 knots. I rigged my biggest for power and first run could only get on foil with hard pumping and continuing to pump after flying. Couldnt seem to get speed to get apparent wind working I think my gear is too draggy. Next run I found good strong wind in the middle of the harbour entrance. Arrived to perfect 5 m conditions with very flat water. I got some runs in before the wind died down a bit, so I pumped the 6 m. It picked back up so I went back out on the 5m. It died back down so I switched to the 6 m. I took a break, and the wind really picked up so I went back out on the 5 m. Had some good runs but there were big gusts and big holes. I finally quit because the shore break was getting bigger than my comfort level.

About as butt puckering as yesterday just a different squeeze. Slightly better wind direction but worse quality. Lots of carnage and lifeguard rescues, mostly wingers tempting going outside the reef but instead got eaten by the logo high foam balls and one jetski got nuked and had to be dragged to the beach. Thankfully the wind died while I was on the inside!

Over my head!
13:30 arrived at Willows to rain and 20kts. Bobson out on small rig, Ang and MtnarG coming back in to reduce sail. Put in on the 4m, adequately powered for 30min on the HA1750cm. It ramped up to well above my skills. The big foil felt like I was dragging kelp. Too many wipeouts, sailed back in to reduce foil. It picked up some more and I thought wise to call it a day.
No injuries, no damages. "Surf to surf another day."

Beauty waves/swell but point got flat. Found a nugget well into Udderland & no wind on gybe victimized my fist pumps as its 5 friends showed up, douched past green roofs, haha. Lovely do-no-wrong day, been a while, but sailors dropped like flies. Lonely last 45 min.

Downwinder from SP to CB on the 1000, should have taken the 800. First downwinder ever, also solo, felt like being in a field with tall matted grass. Some good runs, but I can see why guys like James Casey are saying the wing gets in the way. Pulled into CB, switched to the 800. Swell/waves from the rivermouth to parking lot just stacked, perfect well spaced lines. I'd give another dw a go, especially in 40+ conditions where fighting upwind might be too much. Big swell, big wind, big fun!! Lit on the 4m for most of the time, then the last 20min convinced me to seek shelter (very windy). Initially had to move the foil back a couple cms to stay in the water. Windoc killing the goofy foot inbound rides!! BWD look'n oh so stylin. Grant(CloudMan), Gus out too. MartyC earlier but missed him, then Tweezer, Windjunky, Paul showed as the late comers to finish off the daylight.

Fun day. Good steady wind and very fun swell and warm too. Proper breaking swell off the point. Loving the MA1000 after moving a bit further forward and adding a 0.5 deg tail shim. So very smooth. Clover has been pretty good this year.

Lunch hour session. Thought I would be overpowered when I launched on the 5.2 flyer. Wind was perfect for the first half then off and on. It seemed to dip more than usual in the lulls. Not going to be to picky, still loads of fun, starting to get used to the winter sailing. Nice to have company on the water today.

Arrived to not much and 4 Wings out all schloggin'. Grant and Ang and 2 other young fellas. I saw some promising gusts coming through so decided to rig the 5.2m Flyer and wanted to try out the Super Cruiser Foil today. 1700 front wing, 500 stabilizer and 102cm fuse on the 125 liter board. Damn.. roll the dice and get SNAKE EYES! If I was a kiter I would have been in Cordova Bay by now too.
6.5 would have made for a decent session but no way I'm taking out a 6.5 at IV with both models predicting 30 knots. 4m was frustrating and the gusts were weird and occasional.

Wind had dropped since the view of cam and the drive to Willows. Ang and MtnArg just coming off the water, Dan still out but on his way in. Big gear, maximum lifty-ness setup required! Feels even more suspect at the beach compared to the 8 feet higher on land. Wait around for Bobson to play wind dummy, he finally starts flying outside near Cattle Pt. Dano and I hit the water. On and Off!
11:30 arrived at Tea House to a lull. Waited with Ang and MtnarG. We got our wind back just after noon. I was adequately powered on the 5m for an hour then another lull. Drifted back with a 50m swim for a good finish. Waited another shift with Bobson and ULR. Out again on the 6m for a short 30 mins flight followed by a last swim.
Sunny breaks and warm hands in January. That'll Do!

Novelty session in marginal onshore wind and butt puckering swell. Punted a few decent lefts, got cleaned up in no wind a few times, then quit while I was ahead. Current in the foam balls between sets was often moving faster than the wind. Tricky, tricky.
