First nuker in many sessions. Big breaking swell with endless glides and leg burning turns. Should have been on 2.5 but no harness lines yet on that wing and 3.5 with harness lines was easy to crank upwind. Felt pretty dailed considering it's been a while since winging these conditions.

The hatchery comes to RB!! Super glad I wore my 5/4 suit as water was cold and lots of high impact crashes. Felt like I was pushing the limits on the MA1225 foil - so versatile to withstand the waist high waves and speeds! Everybody looked to be pushing themselves in the conditions lifting the stoke levels up!! Going to be some sore sailors walking around tomorrow. Fraser and I hit RBP for burgers and pints to debrief, have one convert, will work on getting more.

The last few weeks have been 12-20 or so, no complaints, but this was a nice change. Gusty, angry wind but beauty breaking swell. Lots of happy and tired looking faces.

Intense RB! It took me a while to get used to the combo of 1225 front wing and 3m hand wing, neither of which I've used very much. I started getting the hang of it and ventured out into the bigger swells and got knocked down a few times. I'm finding I can get back up and foiling after wipeouts much easier and quicker than I used to -- in conditions like today it seemed essential. I stayed close to Clover while coming back in on port tack and circumnavigated the kelp beds several times. I seem to have u ... (more)

Wind Cranking. Swell Big. Ass properly kicked. New 850 scorchingly fast. First time over-powered on a 3m. Either I was shown my limits in session #2 or just not on my A game. Lots of fun. Lots of learning. Gusts by end of session were really hard to manage. Getting wind whipped in the eye with my wing leash while gunning it at full throttle was my signal to wrap it.

Light wind for most of the day. Caught most of the reliable wind early afternoon then it became pretty off and on. Pushed a hole through the 6.2 e_pace :'( fortunately had the 6.0 Gator. Did the trick! Arms sore from all the pumping. Lots of wingers and couple windfoilers. Back in August for camping!

A little wingding in the wild.
Although apparently i am a wind god - and not in a good way!
Blowing reasonably well sitting at anchor on the boat - UNTIL I get out on the foil, slog out of the bay, and she shuts down.
Oh well, a little foil is better than none, nevermind i dragged the bloody thing around for a month, i was not going home without flying it at least once!

Blasting. Early morning pressure squalls and light rain made it look like maybe the thermal wasn't going to happen, but it did! Late start but the peak of the wind was solid ' stronger than yesterday with some nice swell and ramps starting to push down near the cove in the windsurfing area. Started on demo free race gear ' Goya Bolt 107 and Mark X Freerace 6.2. Super fun set-up ' frighteningly fast and just keeps spoiling up if you have the nerve to keep the power on! On it too early! Wasted most of my energy balancing in light wind and chops for the first half. It picked up nicely late afternoon, much better for the second session with the evening crew. Fine swell lines in 20 kts. some 25 wings out with a few kites.

Gale farce. Maybe smoke messed with the wind? Started on DW board, wind picked up, went to little board and wind started dropping again. Had a couple of raileys that felt good on the steeper ramps. Kelp and weeds wrassled me down a few times but I won a couple of battles too by slicing through. Fun enough!

Light to start, almost headed in, gradually picked up with a fun SW swell rolling towards the beach. Less kelp and floating debris. Good crew out ripp'in it up! Fantastic Sunday evening session.

Second session on the NEO 8m. Initially all good, but then the wind died. Good session, continued to work on my downwind jibs, riding toe side. Wind started to soften, and I now understand why learning how to do the foot swap is an essential tool for surfboard riding.

Rain in the morning, clearing up by 2pm. Wind picked up and became a strong breeze. Went out in my 10m and the surfboard and I was seriously overpowered. Had some good tacks, but just way too much wind for the 10m. Decided to go in and change to a smaller kite.
This is my second day on a strapped surf board. Had some nice carving jibs. Riding toe side just fine.

From lame to awesome to lame. Got out immediately, but the swell coming in from multiple directions combined with weak wind from the west that couldn't really fill the bay made for a lot of slogging. And on the occasion that I got going, seaweed prevailed. Wind finally picked up mid session and things got cooking. 5 m wasn't enough and then it was too much and 4 m had to come out. Good session in the middle but lacking wind, integrity, good swell. The seaweed thing took me down a lot. Tried to go back o ... (more)

Despite a light wind start, today was much better than yesterday's pump fest. I think I got lucky as the wind increased a bit and let me get foiling on my big wing/board/foil combo. There was some fine swell out by the point and I got some nice flag outs and powered carves. Shared the waves with Idefix, GregCan, and Docker with his strap-on foil drive for some paddle foiling. Warm enough for a shorty-suit, until you crashed. Glad to not have to spend too much time in the water. More foilers joined in as I l ... (more)

Fresh off a family weekend in Qualicum Beach, I loaded the Popemobile and headed down to RB for 6pm. The wind seemed to be building a bit after several hours of reported fickle-ness. The first hour was great with steady wind and not too big swell. The last 30 min I started kooking out and struggled to get on foil on my bad side. Once the wind started dropping I called it a day. Looks like it could be a big day tomorrow!

Barely enough! Nice 3 session day off the beach at the family beach house, seemed like every time I headed out the breeze would die and build again right after hitting the beach. Hour and a half of foil time in two and a half hours on the water but it was hot so being on the water in board shorts wasn't the worst thing. Great waves for the last sesh. Ribs for dinner and a sunset Fat Tug as I write the log. Maybe more first thing tomorrow morning!

Arrived at 2 and waited until 3 to get on the water. Docker showed up and rigged his 6.0m and big foil. I rigged 5.2 and small foil. He made the better choice. It should have picked up but it didn't. On the water and it started to pick up to 10-13kts so I got a couple rides but then backed off for 20 mins and it picked up to 13-15kts and I thought perfect, it's starting. Well, it lasted about 20 mins and then backed off again. ugh!! Pretty much carbon copy of yesterday. Oh well, I got my chores done this mo ... (more)
