Today felt tropical compared to the last few sessions! It was light to start so I rigged the 5.5m/1080 combo, which worked well until the wind picked up quite a bit and everyone headed in to downsize. I didn't bring my 4.0m so I stayed out by myself but soon the wind started dropping rapidly to <10. Fortunately I was in the chop and was able to chip into a wave to get back on foil and headed for the beach. The wind soon picked back up and the second part of the session was great even though I was OP'd and wishing I was on my 4m/880 combo. I headed down towards the bottom of St Charles to watch a sailboat almost run aground as the owner paddled out in a tender to rescue it. He saved it just in time. Was that the same boat that ran aground in Oak Bay just the other day? After that the waves stacked up a bit. Had some very close passes with Tweezer and Ang, and some of my longest toeside runs ever. I felt like I made more gybes than usual (only to wipe out in toeside fairly shortly thereafter). Fun session! (Note: my top 100m speed doesn't look right - Waterspeed says I didn't crack 18 knots)
