Arrived from Turkey late last night and was stoked to see potential for washing off some jet lag. Also excited to ride the new KT Dragonfly Surf 2 which is very different from my previously well loved Dragonfly 2, as well as the Nomad 830 foil. Wind was quite steady if a bit chilly, and the usual crew was out enjoying it. Great to see "newbie Grant" who is a true OG from the windsurfing (Olympic class) and kiting days, and one of the best wind and surf talents this island has produced. He used to ride an aluminum kite foil he built himself with boots for better control 20 years ago! Session 3 and he's riding toe side and making jibes!! New board took some getting used to as it feels narrower than my board from last year, and the nose is much smaller. I feel like going under 18" wide offers little benefit for me as a tall rider and I like the leverage you get over the foil with something a touch wider. Still, it jumps to foil and feels like the swing weight is much less. Feels like I'm riding something 20L less once in the air. The Nomad 830 felt instantly much like a more playful Army HA880 with similar bottom end. It rolls very easily and feels fairly quick. Can't wait to parawing this foil and SUP surf it!! Man, the gear has evolved so much in a short time in foiling.
