Kite House in Youbou

Post by Kiterkliff »

Hey there,
We just made the move from Squamish to Youbou. We are opening a Guest House there which is located on the last paved road at the end of Youbou. Its 200M from Arbutus Park.
Not sure if we will get it open for September and if not will be open in the spring.
Will have a jet-ski, and hopefully a shuttle to Nitinat.
I just spent a week up there and scoped a great beach also on Cowichan where I got in solid 12M days on nice thermals 5 days in a row.
Keep an eye open for us and if your an instructor bring your students and you stay for free!

See you on the water

Lake cowichan

I tried kiting on cowichan lake, it looked really windy, lots of whitecaps ect. A s soon as I launched my kite i found the wind to be turbulant, and full of holes.
I was near the kissinger camp site, i'd sure like to try it again in a better spot. Nintat is great, but the launch is often too busy, too many kites lying around ect ect.

Good effort!

for sure it all depends where your at. i found that the point area just past Youbou is the cleanest area with pretty good wind. The key is to get as far away from the end of the lake but not so far where it opens up again by Youbou.
Pretty sweet to have the whole lake to yourself all afternoon.
