Camping is fun but it sure demonstrates the value of a house. On my last trip, I was struck with how handy they are for things like cooking and going to the bathroom. Now, I realize they enable you to manage more complicated things like dogs and kids; pretty nice.
So maybe it's not the people, the dogs, or even the kids, but simply the fact that we don't have our houses and yards with us. Maybe we'll just have to live with it as best we can. For me, it was all worth it, having attained and sustained my particular bliss on the water without difficulty. Although, I particularly value the ability of my house to keep dust at bay when those pesky automobiles roll by.
