I awarded the Golden helmet to Cam(terrapin) for the July 2 epicness at Pistol River. After putting his head through his 4.0, he went back out on a smaller sail, ate boom on a backloop and almost bit through his lip.

No no... he probably wouldn't have eaten his boom if he had been back looping, instead he did it straight airing! The lesson here is if you bust your sail looping and go re-rig, you'd better throw caution to the wind and keep looping or the boom will mash your face. Counter-intuitive isn't it?

... and the saga continues tomorrow at Nitinat through the weekend. Early reports suggest the Baron 'au Rouge is ready to pull the trigger and several others could be going inverted in questionable attire.

The events that transpire shall be well documented.

Ok so the saga didn't continue on Friday, nor did it on Saturday, but today it did, if only for 30 minutes. I don't know if it was the 3 hours we put in at the sauna last night, the 2 days of wind frustration, the morning nature walks, or the 24 of KB buck a beer drank over the last 2 nights, but the rouge baron just went for it. Docking in behind with my visual camera rolling, two coitus interruptus attempts where he pointed scary nose dive downwind led into a perfect version of the same where the trigger hath be pulled and the rotation hither be completed. Nice! The helmet is yours Bru!

The ocean and wind are generous, they lend their energy to us. Each time we sail out, we go home faster, stronger, and with stories to tell. When a swell forms a critical peak, the wind pulls us up and with lift we are weightless. Nothing but a heartbeat. When the margin for error is measured in inches we pull the trigger. When we survive and head back to shore, we watch the sun sink below the horrizon knowing the forward loop was complete. These are the days that we will remember forever. The Golden Helmet awaits....

Who's up next? Don't want to make the Golden Helmet angry. Maybe Pushloops need to be added next?

... well let's not get ahead of ourselves here until the new recruits start planing away from these things.

Hard to believe the last meeting of the guild was nearly two months ago, which incidentally was the last time I sailed I think. I guess August and September sucked.

At any rate... Looks like it finally resumes today at Cook street. Bring your game.
