I lived up that way for four years in the late 1980s.
It’s a fabulous network of west coast inlets, intriguing history and abundant adventures. It was common knowledge that during the summer you wanted to get off the water by early afternoon, in the big inlets, due to the thermals.
Back then it was a perilous drive from Gold River to Nootka Sound.
Didn’t know about windsurfing then but it sure would’ve been fun as we spent more time in a boat than a car. You definitely need a boat to accompany you in those areas.
