CALL TO ACTION for all Water People!!

Just wanted to put the word out to other water people and those who use the ocean off the shores of Victoria and surrounding areas, that tomorrow July 12th, the SETAC report is being released at the CRD HQ. Listening to some windsurfers on the CBC this morning talk about the effects of sewage in the water, led me to believe that there might be a few folks out there who would be interested in the findings from this report.

Our group, the Surfrider Victoria Chapter, will be out in full force with others like POOP, the Georgia Strait Alliance, TBuck Suzuki, Victoria Sewage Alliance, and the Muir Creek Protection Society, to rally and raise concerns over how the city chooses to manage, or rather mismanage, it's sewage practices. We hope that you'll join us! We're meeting at 12:45pm on the corner of Fisgard and Government (VQ Bakery) and then walking up to the meeting. Some of us will be in wetsuits, with boards under arms, some will carry posters and banners, and others will just be there!

Come out and kick some ass with us!

Details:

SETAC Report: On July 12th at 1:30 p.m., The Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) will report its findings and make a recommendation about the future of sewage treatment to the CRD. The public is welcome, and everyone is invited to attend the meeting, which will be held at the CRD headquarters at 625 Fisgard Street.

Mahalo!

There's a newspaper story on the report at:

More studies to see whether the pollutants are actually coming from the outfall or from unsanitary killer wales and other marine life!
