Port Renfrew

Has anyone been out windsurfing in Port Renfrew? Just wondering what the conditions are like out there and when the wind blows. I heard that if it's blowing 20 up at Nitinat it'll be 15 in Renfrew. Same thermal development, just looking for some confirmation of this.
My car wouldn't like the Nitinat roads, otherwise I'd just go there.

I have and it appears to hold true most of the time unless you get weird stuff like fog rolling in which then kills it, like these days
The road to Renfrew is certainly nothing to write home about either tho, not to mention LOOOONG.
At this time Nat is a better bet for a thermal I'd say, just take a valium, drive slowly and turn up the tunes

you would also have to drive right past gordos on the way to PR which is as good a bet for wind. Hey you posted a couple months back about getting a longboard, howd it go?!

Yeah the road is long, but I like how far PR is away from the crowds, and I don't know if I'm ready yet for Nat, maybe next year. I don't know if my little Acura Integra would like the gravel road to Nat, anyone out there driving small vehicles up there? Maybe I should look into raising it 4 inches, hahaha.
As for the board purchase, yeah I got the gear my gf and I need to play. We now have 3 boards, 3.5 masts, 7 sails and 3 booms. My storage shed is looking rather packed. Still thinking I need a 4. sail, that's my gap right now.

Our Honda Civic hatchback makes it up there fine. If you hit a bump too fast (>80 km/h) you'll end up bending your rims. Go 50-60 and slow down for the big potholes and you'll be fine. Honda's double wishbone racing-inspired suspension actually gives a pretty smooth ride. I didn't have much success with friends in the backseat tho... too low and ripped my muffler off
I have seen at least one guy up there with an Integra too.

nothing wrong with PR, one of my favorite places personally, the sandy beaches are great. Something thats hard to find in combination with good wind, other than tofino. I also used to have a little honda accord and it had absolutely no problems with the roads to nitinat, I'd hardly call the road a logging road compared to other logging roads on this island, especially from the Port Al side, its more like a highway.
Does anyone know how reliable the NW is north of tofino along the coast in the summer, in the raft cove region? There are some great spots up there, had a look around this summer.
