ah ha!
Oh my god, we're making it less windy by driving around in our aerosol spewing cars. Must move to the beach.

thanks that was an interesting read. from what i gather the effect is more or less limited to the diurnal land/sea breezes in polluted airsheds like the LA or Fraser basin.. i prefer to think that as the planet descends into climate chaos overall there will be more severe/frequent weather events spelling more wind and waves for all (unfortunate side effects of floods, drought, disease, locusts etc..!)

i cant wait to own an electric sports car........way more fun that traditional sports cars. infinite torque instantaneously, incredible acceleration, very smooth breaking, light, no maintenance etc etc...
hopefully everyone out there is clueing in and starting to do their part, everyday i see inefficiencies within our society and its tough to swallow.
spread the word people.....the multiplier effect is our only hope!

Interesting article. I also heard that aircraft condensation trails initiate high level cloud formation and as a result are causing a moderation in temperatures. This too could result in reduced surface wind speeds, especially perhaps thermal winds in the summer. On the other hand, jet travel produces copious amounts of CO2, contributing to warming and more active weather. Hmmm...
As for the electric cars, I'm looking forward to the plug in hybrids. Vancouver Island is an ideal place for electrics: warm year round; short commuting distances. Check out the conversions kits from Randy in Errington (Canadian Electric Vehicles http://www.canev.com/). He gave me a demonstration of his Geo about 10 years ago. It was surprisingly fast!
