Nitinat wind during rain?

Post by Teabag »

Forecast says it is going to rain at Nitinat this week end. I think that I ve heard once that the wind is not good over there when its rainy.
I am taking lessons but I dont feel like driving all the way up there to no wind/gusty wind.

Does any of you have experience Nitinat when it's rainy? How is the wind/kiting?
(everytimes I was there it was sunny with good wind)

Should i ask to move lessons to the right?

Rain is not good @ Nitinat. Hold out for sunshine.
Thermals are good.

Unless there is a frontal push, you will be a lonely camper in the mud (lots this yr).....

frontal can be good for hardcore sailing, horrible for kiting :x worse for learning; camping in short showers no probs and is fun, really really miserable when it really lets go tho  Save yer credits and gas

Kus pretty much summed it up. Sometimes it, good social times, but mainly muddy, cold and no sailing----hold out for sun.
Its all about the adventure and stoke!

Check out the logs from two weekends ago. Miserable forecast, but 3 days of good wind (bit chilly though!); it didn't actually do more than sprinkle, and it was a bit light for beginner kites on the Saturday. But I was beside a newbie kiter from Calgary on a lesson when he got his first ride in control across the lake, and I'm sure he wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else at that moment. I helped him holler! It is a truly horrible place to be camping in heavy rain though!
