While watching the windline just a few hundred meters away at Cook, with Andrew today.
We discussed doing a downwinder from Esquimalt Lagoon to Cook.
I'm almost sure there has been talk of this before on this Forum.
But I can't remember what the final thoughts were..
and am not sure where to find the old post.(and too lazy)
I know you'd have to stay out of the way of the planes that come in for their landings.
But are you even allowed to go past there?
No old kites, PFD.. Boat would be preferable, and all that.
But I'm just wondering about the rules around the ships, and aerodrome(planes).
Please.. somebody.. Anybody..

Today would have been a great day for it.

We`ve done that trip a few times , once from Esquimalt lagoon to Cook and a couple from Cook to Esquimalt and back. Pretty simple. Best to do it in early afternoon while the wind still has some south in it, that way it`s less turbulent near the lagoon and then head from the lagoon to the south side of Brotchie Ledge ( the lighthouse off , not on , the breakwater) and then to Cook. Give the harbors good clearance , watch for cruise ships etc.. and enjoy. Less people makes it easier as it`s easier to stay in a pack in case something goes wrong.
A fun thing to do on a southerly is to sail from Cook to Brotchie ledge and back.
