All started when that guy who now lives in kelowna or there abouts, posted the sott pentagon "where's the plane video" on this site, correct me if i'm wrong, and i guess bwd is seeing that, because, said issues do impact us all, they also don't go away and you know what ? Between the combined brain trust of the water/wind community...get the drift...

I think the very fact that the "authority is not the truth..." thread is one of the longest (perhaps the record holder?) threads on BWD is an indication there is interest in having a forum for 'off-topic' subjects within the wind community.
Many of us (including me) don't belong to any other online communities nor do we want to. As well, for many of us the majority of our friends use BWD as their homepage and as an online meeting point. As such, it makes a good place to mention topics that one feels may be of interest to other BWD users, even if it is not directly related to wind. I think this is an indication of the success of the BWD site and a tribute to the man who built it.
Finally, it is not as if people are forced to read threads that are not in their interest! By the time 5 pages of a thread are posted, you know whether you want to read it.
Ideally, posters will use a descriptive subject line so there is no need to read threads that are non-wind related unless it interests you.
I don't fully understand why people can't simply read the threads of interest and ignore the others, as I am sure most users do. That said, I think placing the off-topic threads where they are is a useful compromise for those who do not wish to see non-wind threads appear on the main page update, and I respect Dave's choice to initiate this compromise.
