Interested in carrying on from Nitinaht to Bamfield next weekend, and wondered if anyone had any reports of the road condition? Notes on which turns to make? Cheers.

The best bet is to head out and buy yourself a "Back roads map book". You can find them at your local gas station or book store (Bollen or chapters) Just a note that many of these back roads are active logging roads on the week days... some of these logging trucks used are so large they can't be driven on public roads. (double wide). You will see them traveling from Nit. to Bamfield. They don't stop for you!! It takes about 2-3 min for the dust to settle behinde them. time is money with these guys. So take care.

I talked to some folks who drove back to Vic from Bamfield Monday. Report: Road is BAD. Make sure your spare is in good shape!

Hi - we did the trip this week. The directions on the nitinat visitor's centre website are clear. At the Franklin River junction (20 km from the "T" junction before Nitinat) , you follow the signs to Bamfield - it is pretty clear. (about 40 km) The Bamfield marine station also has good maps.

The road is the same as the Youbou side of the lake road. Bad, but not worse at all.

Best of luck!
