Hey all, I'm 25 days from leaving a seven month tour in afghanistan when I get back I got most of the month of May off and I'm looking to travel somewhere to do some windsurfing, any suggestions to were the wind would be good and decent conditions for an intermediate windsurfer. Looking at bonaire, but a touch on the expensive side. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you considered Margarita (El Yaque) in Venezuela? Perfect intermediate spot, bath water temperature, air 27 C, avg wind 25 knots. It's a ways to go but a great place for a sailing vacation.

South Padre/Corpus Christie in Texas could be a good bet too. Flat water in the Laguna Madre and bump'n jump in the bay. Waves can be found in Port Aransas. I'm surprised it seems to be off people's wind map these days. Chris Shepard at NoZone clothing here in town (Vic) could be a good resource for Corpus Christie. He knows the place well.

What's cabarete like this time of year or even La Ventana?

Isn't Maui perfect this time of yhear? Waves getting smaller but trade wind steadying? There's a windsurfing hostel on the North Shore for something like $40 a night last time I checked. The price included van rides out to the major venues (I think Kanaha is intermediate friendly) and longer siteseeing/hiking trips when it wasn't windy.

There better be wind in Maui in May, I've already paid for my trip!
