Not to worry, Nanmoo, talk to your rental store and either Kanaha or Kihei will have enough wind, North favors Kihei, trades favor Kanaha. On-shore at 10-15mph would easily mean using 5.2 or better on water.

Bummer about the lack of wind, Nanmoo. At least Maui has so much to do. If you haven't already, take your girl fiend to Mama's Fish House near Ho'okipa. Best dinner on Maui. It'll make you forget about the crappy wind for a few hours. Cruise around Makawao and onward to Haleakala. I'm sure you've sussed out the things to do. Getting skunked sucks, but I'm slowly learning that the sailing needs to be the bonus and not the focus or you'll drive yourself crazy. I hope you at least get a few days powered up!

Hana is a lot of fun too, with black sand on the beach and a little cave you can swim in.

We did Hana yesterday, the tires on the hot rod (dodge caliber!) were squealing the whole way there and back (bridge is out just past hana so you can't go all the way around). That road is pretty cool, but the one north of Lahaina is probably the sketchiest road I've been on. They would never build something like that in Canada, Liability and what not.

I also made the mistake of walking barefoot on the black sand beach - one of those would be really handy in 15-20C.... 26C+ not so much ouch!

At least the Nat is looking to be good in a week when I'm back. Might finally get some wind in Sat/Sun!

The weather all over has been off. Maui this time of the year is usually a lock for wind. Usually it is great for March and April and gets better into the summer. I was there in April this year and got 50% of the sailing I would normally get. Usually you hope the wind turns off for a day or two to get some rest.

NOAA discussion says trades are forecast to come back thursday evening, I guess I will watch it fill in from the Airplane! Keep up the wind back home, I have been showing the locals at the shop that a real windsurfing vacation is had in Victoria (apparently!). My wetsuit is lonely anyways.

Well it's my last night in Maui... Definitely wasn't what I expected, but hey I am heading home to a hopefully solid weekend at the Nat with a new stick, two new fires, a freak, no more clunky SDM masts, Oh and I finally broke down and gave the misses a ring, price for it all... apparently only a lifetime of servitude! So all is not bad.

Looking forward to slipping into my wetsuit again, it texted me and said it was lonely.
