Surf board

Post by SaltSpringKiterPeaceGuy »

Hi all,

I've been thinking of buying a surf board for kiting based on great reviews of the experience from numerous kiters! I'm in Tofino and there are little boards for around 250 or 300 bucks. Any thoughts or suggestions on buying one and fitting it with pads for kiting. The folks at Storm don't seem to know anything about it.......Thanks!
Kevin

Hmmm... Decisions, decisions... My advice would be to try out as many boards as possible to find something you like and are comfortable with, and go from there.
There are always deals to be made and had, and if not, then put one together yourself.
Find a cheap board, decide on weather or not to go strapless or not. NSI makes deck pads that are adhesive and have the inserts for straps in them...option...
Decisions, decisions...
Have fun...;)

I tried a bunch of regular thrusters and ended up getting a kiteboard specific surf board that is a quad fin. I think the kiting ones have less rocker and are narrower. I found the thruster fin setup and big tail rocker on a surfboard unsuitable for kitesurfing.
Should be able to find a used kite surfboard for around the same price once you add the $150 for NSI deck pad and foot straps.

Good luck!
