Sail Repair

Hello,
I have a couple of Northwave Sails, a 6.2 and a 5.2 Slalom, and they have these silly plastic buckles with straps for tensioning the battens. The problem is these things break from getting wet, then dry and so on all the time when you go to tension your battens. I need to find someone who can repair them, which would involve un-sewing the strap and sewing it back with a new buckle. I know of UK Sailmakers and a guy at Bosun's (Paul ??) who will do it, is there anywhere or anyone else who can do it in a timely and cost effective manner?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Dan.

Dan ... You should talk to the folks at Northwave. My understanding is that it isn't supposed to be adjustable.

Well it is a ladder lock type strap and buckle like you would find on a back pack or something, but I see what you mean. Perhaps they intend you to set it once for ideal tension and then leave it from then on. I bought these sails from some more hard-core types than myself who are always updating, but they swore by Northwave, saying they are the most durable sails out there. The thing is I think they didn't really show me the right way to rig these things, as they were never able to get the wrinkles out of the sail.

Anyway, I'll probably just end up taking them to UK, to fixed them for me once before and did a good job that didn't take too long.
