Today around noon Sea King helicopter and SAR fixed wing flying over shoreline west of Sooke. Thought for a second they may have been looking for my lost kiteboard. Ya right!
Turned out, SAR call out was for unfortunate lady who drove off the road into the ocean and drowned. Guess they thought someone else may have been in vehicle too.
Kite and drive safely.

See story on CHEK TV news tonite.
Deceased was on own property and drove over a low bank and beach into water (less than 10' deep by the looks of it).
Location about 300m west of new marina just west of Sooke.

Way to go Idaho 8) The new boards have a solar panel & an electric motor with a homing beacon you operate from your bar.

The Mako King (MK) has been a really good board for me. We have survived numerous saltwater calamities and survival situations. Like "Wilson" the volleyball in the movie Castaway, MK's absence on my recent ocean journeys has been deeply missed. I know we will have to move on some day, but MK was not ready and I want to thank Mother Natue and King Neptune for re-uniting us.
Thanks also to Bruce the Idaho fisher in Clallam Bay for finding MK and Jerry's Bait and Tackle Shop in Port Angeles. See you Sunday MK.

Add a few lines of Kanji characters to the board as well as the email, RocDoc, and you'll get some news coverage too, next time!

I suppose you could embed one of those pet locator devices RFID into the board in the future. Have fun explaining your board story at homeland sec. Rocdoc.
