I'm in the fetal position I have lost a second board in 3 weeks of off Gordon's! I was inside the crab pots this time. OMG can you say looser! Well I have to fess up its a blue and white 135 x 35 mako ocean rodeo board. Reward! Beer, wine chocolate $$$.

Cook street is safer for loosing board.

Usually you ll get a bunch of kiters heading towards you if you do 4 - 5 tack without a board. "Hey are you al right" One is going to grab your board, the other one tow you to the beach (if your kite crash and un relaunchable for example).

On busy day anyway.

It seems like it would be harder to misplace your board this way, although waves could of course make it much harder.

Losing gear really sucks, but twice, that is truly ugly Fluffy. Hope you find one of them at least.

Now my question- why don't kiters use leashes or some sort of safety line?
I thought I used to see them years ago on the side of the harness.
Are they unsafe ? Someone educate me. Thx

gwind, yes, leashes kill people. They have been not-recommended for a while now because they can either a) get caught and cause problems or b) whip the board back at you and injure you.

In all honesty if my leash had not broken yesterday (hot launch 25 knot gust) I'd have a MAKO sticking out the back of my head GOJOs are a good thing & thanks for the help BA

that sucks about your board.i hope it turns up for you.i have a GOJO and it has been working great but it didnt stop me from leaving my bar and lines on the beach at muir creek.also have cash reward for their return.

I am feeling badly for Fluffy this morning.
As usual, it was a combination of things which lost the board.
Fluffy, was the last one out as some of us have a real job (not me).
I found the board with my binoculars from our second floor balcony.
Fluffy, borrowed a board and went out to find hers.
We couldn't direct her to her board as it was quite a way out.
I saw her pass by the board, once upwind and then downwind.
Thought she saw it but no.
The conditions, big swells and lots of white water made seeing it very difficult.
We considered taking out a kayak but without a spray skirt in those conditions, it wasn't a smart option.
Thought about padding out on a SUP but again the problem was trying to direct someone to the board from shore.
The real answer may have been finding someone "fresh" to go out for a late session in the area.
I watched the board of and on for well over an hour until the fading light made it too difficult to locate.

Sniffle sniffle sad days indeed. Thank you for all the kind suggestions and help. We do indeed have a fine group of people to play on these waters with. I am digging through my old gold jewelry and heading to old gold to get some $$ two boards is well over $1000 donation to the sea gods. I just hope they are appeased now! I posted on the sports fishing forum too. maybe someone will find at least one of them. 😢💨💨💨💨💨💨

Ah if I could only ride as well as that Greg! Great vid, do you wear a leash? I've had too many yanks and bangs so let go of mine a long time ago. I kept breaking it so gave up 😝

Holy shite that was strapless.

i have worn a leash a few times. my board gets free and surfs to the beach or rocks and breaks the nose so a leash allows you to save it in waves. just make sure you send the kite the opposite way as the waves so you don't get hit by the board in the wave which could be deadly. but it could hit you with out a leash too.
