also, this would be open to any kites, windsurfers, or boats (i.e.: 29ers/ lasers) that are all reasonably the same speed.

I have ideas as to how to keep the pack together. Need to avoid a large spread

Would love to attend. Let me know when this is happening, will gladly chip in on the cost. Also I have a truck to help bring gear to the start point.

Nobody on here knows who I am, but I would be interested. I am the 17 year old who flys a blue foil kite on clover point and sometimes on the water at dalas. I don't want to take anybody who is more experienced then me's spot but if I would live to go, just let me know! Thanks

Launching a laser at Gordons and going downwind past Otter Pt and through Race Passage in what will likely be 30 knots :?: :?: :!: Maybe an Olympic level sailor wearing a big weight jacket? It would be entertaining though.

What about doing a shorter one to start, maybe Esquimault Lagoon down to Cook (or Trial if a water pickup was arranged)? I'd like to be able to see if I could sustain much downwind, figure out if a bigger sail is needed (I know I stall often when trying to waveride on swellets at GSpot, for instance).

A jail break from Albert head could be good on a SSW! Steve McBride proposed this with the youth dingy sailors and it would be cool to mix up boat, kites and wind surfers!
It would prove to be a short n sweet event!

OK, lets shoot for next weekend.(not THIS weekend) Saturday or sunday depending on the wind.

Entry form posted by this weekend.

As for route, This will be posted soon, but if we're going to put this on, it might as well be a bit longer than esquimalt....anyone can do that without a boat. I'm rooting for gordons

Lagoon to Cook = 8 kms
Weir's beach to Cook = 15 kms
Gordon's to Cook = 42 kms

I'm fairly new to windsurfing, I don't think that I am quite ready to do 40kms. However, I agree with skywalker....no point in getting a support boat for an 8kms downwinder.

Would it be possible to have 2 groups with one group starting at Gordon's and the second group starting later at the Lagoon (or at Weir's)?

That would almost make sense, join up with everyone as they go by for those of us who want to give it a shot before comitting to a huge one.

I don't mean to be exclusive with the experience requirement. Its mostly to ensure that you are capable of handling relaunch, self rescue etc.

NOW lets hope for wind.

This will be the 3rd kite event I've planned....the last 2 had no wind. So odds are this one will work!

Like the graphics!
this will be an interesting landing for me as I have never sailed "Cook".
10 years of kiting this year but never Cook, wonder why
