RD/Elena: I think you both often and keep sending healing energy your way!

Image

I got a late afternoon quick splash and dash in at Squamish yesterday (super flat  on wicked incoming tide), but it was still nice to get out on the water (with a WTOY logo in tow)! :D This picture was at 6:30 (last off the water).

RD and Elena, safe travels to Russia!:)

We just received a message from Andrei's wife, Elena, who is in St. Petersburg with him and his family. His condition has unfortunately worsened to the point of him being bedbound with very limited cognitive function. He had wished to die back home; it just wasn't expected that his condition would worsen so soon. Elena has the request that everyone send thoughts and prayers his way during these last days, as they will stay at home in St. Petersburg until he passes.

Next time you're on the water, please send him some of the joy with which these sports infuse us.

This is very, very sad news. At least he could be surrounded by his family. Many positive thoughts and prayers going out to you RD and Elena.

RD you had such a positive attitude and were always so fun to be around. We had lots of good times together, from learning to loop together to watching you eat potted meat in a can and meat cookies on a stick. I will miss you.

That is not acceptable :( I've just lost a sibling & another is headed for hospice. No words can convey the loss of a spirit like Andrei. As Kus points out our time on the planet is limited. Please make the most of it :!:

Good guy

Andrei and I caravanned down to Gold Beach last year...when you sleep in an I5 rest stop with a guy you create a certain kind of bond. Then there was the DQ girls in Gold Beach....the time coming home on the Coho a few years back when I was going to puke up my guts up and along came Andrei with some Gravol for me.

I am going to miss you and how much more fun you made those OR trips. You will always live on in my memories.

I have been preparing myself for this news but it doesn't make it any easier when it comes.
I am so grateful that he was able to make it back to be with his family.
Having Andrei as a warm and charismatic part of our community and as a friend has been a privilege. I will miss him dearly.
