Details | HA!! Friday the 13th and I Nailed it!! CP on a NE is the best and today did not disappoint. Got out early and made it quick. 50kms Done! Bang! I arrived to 10-15kts with PaulRedVan out on his 6.0m Wing-Thing. I rigged up my 6.0m Flyer as I wasn't 100% sure it would stick around. As I was rigging Sir (Lance)lot arrived and then MtnarG arrived and just as I was heading walking my gear down the boat ramp, The 'not huge' Maniac Monkey arrived as well. Sorry, no time to chit-chat, I felt I had to get out on the water as I was pressed for time. I had rigged up the 800cm2 front wing as there was lots of wind and flat water so I thought some speed runs would be kinda fun. I think I got about 15 mins out ripping and then BOOM! My boom came undone which ended in BIG CRASH!! My 'BOBSON' hat went flying but I was more worried about getting back and what exactly happened. So as I was trying to jury rig my boom back onto my mast, PaulRedVan (from now on known as PRV) stopped, asked it I was okay and grabbed my hat. Thanks PRV, I really appreciate both. Anyways, the line that keeps the boom tight on the mast busted so I jury rigged it enough to barely hold and I headed back only about 300 meters but was able to get up foiling while holding the boom where it attaches to the mast together with my hand. Yes, I feel that was pretty good skill to get foiling with one hand on the mast. Anyways, got back to the boat ramp, went and got a spare piece of line from my ManVan and fixed the boom and headed back out. The Twizz, Rupp-Dogg and HighRocker were all rigging up. As they all came out there was a little Wing Playtime where they all looked like flies circling a tastey piece of meat. I'm not really sure what they were doing but my 800cm2 front foil wasn't able to go that slow so I stayed away. I did some more speed runs, went out towards Discovery to say HI to a couple sailboats passing by both were filming with GoPro's or Phones.? I tried to put on my best SMILE and give the biggest WooHoo's possible. Windoc came out on his super bright orange Wing and by then it was time for me to go. Super fun session with 7 Wings and ME! I love CP sessions. The 800cm2 front foil felt fast but I had to big a sail to be able to sheet in and really light it up. I also needed more downhaul and outhaul for top speed. There's always next time to be faster. WOOHOO!! BOBSON OUT!! [from Sailing Log on Friday October 13, 2023] |
