Road trip with FraserMc. Gusty in the rigging area, some caps on the horizon, felt like a 4m would do. Lightly powered on 4/1000cm for the first half. 5.0 was the better choice to reach the best swell lines north of Clark. Fun surf at the north end of the beach near the point.

Rigged 4.7: juiced. Great runs. Moved sail mast back 1in but overfoiled/saved more than a few today, made 3 foiling & most other gybes, one on foil was sweet! Straps 2nd nature already, looking forward to gybes. Wsurfed when it seemed too much, went back to foil later. Moved harness lines up 2in, no help. Need smaller foil/sail for g20

Wind seemed to amp up, 110/5.7 I thought would be plenty? Not! Holes were nasty, streaky wind, tide factor too maybe, that 5.7 felt very heavy!! Gave up after a few runs of pumping, later saw Hiho make 5.3 sorta work, followed him wayyy out where it was better, not by much. Called it.

Great day at Pipers! Idefix picked me up at 9:30 and we headed north with San P in mind. Latest reports at 10am as we were entering Nanaimo had 18 at Entrance, change of plan Pipers it is. I forgot to turn on my gps for the first 10 mins but still managed to log a solid 2 hours. Fun swell just north of Clarke Rock with plenty of good rides. Not cold at all with the gloves on. Good session to start the year.

Arrived at 11:30am after seeing 13-15kts on BWD. It wasn't that much, maybe 10-13kts but looked windier upwind. Rigged big anyways as I did not want to schlog. I headed out, did a few runs inside then decided to try and head out through the washing machine tide craziness. Made for some fun heart pumping rushes.
Came in for a quick hand warmup, then back out for another couple of in/outs.

Another fine lt wind session. I put in just after Bobson and GregCan had been out for a while. Kinda marginal as they were up and down. I got lucky with my big gear and got up on a gust just past the marker. Found a good pocket of wind between the yellow buoy and the marker. Nolan came out a bit later. I found lesss wind closer to JJI so I just played carving jibe games in the wind pocket. Jibes became a struggle so I ended it. Good cool, wet, fun!

Arrived a just after 10am to GregCan and MtNarG discussing who the next Prime Minister should be. Whatever?!?! I decided to rig big as it looked light. 6.0m Sailworks Flyer was just enough. Too windy for 2000, like 1300 better anyway. Eager to try new s-mast/f-mast positions & they worked great! Backstrapped today, 25% more control, easy 4.7 water starting so figured I had to bail or downrig. Went back after finning, made 2 foiling gybes, close on a few more! Yesss! Cool after close on a tack yesterday. Saved most of few breaches I made, decent high on mast runs today, that's much better!!

Reasonable forecast for both models and 15kts at Entrance Island, worth the workout! Arrived to 4m winds and cold rain. Flying solo for this one, I felt relatively safe with this side-onshore. Helmet, PFD and nearly 8' of board, that should get me back to the park? Lightly powered on 4.0/1200 for the first half and 5m for a more comfortable finish. That'll do.

Arrived at 10:30am (Thanks for OSR TnT) to CP and decided 2nd boat launch as there was a bit of North in it. Rigged big sail and medium foil. Wind was onshore so had to schlog around the rocks to get out. Up on a foil quickly and water was flat everywhere except right off CP launch. Big Coast Guard ship just off the point causing a bit of a wind shadow. Headed out towards Discovery and back but there wasn't quite enough to go wherever I wanted. Marginal forecast, but worth a shot. Bobson was flying circles around CCG cutter at CP. TnT and I took the Willows shot and my big gear didn't let me down! I found a wind pocket 8-10 kts beside MTI and got lots of light wind jibe practice. It was another "don't come off foil" day, since it was so hard to get up. The cold conditions was good incentive to not crash. I still ended up crashing once. Nice to have empty Willows. Good fun regardless!

Nice way to start the new year.
Wind came up fairly quickly, and by the time it eased an hour later, some of the sets were nearing 2m.
Fun - although the annoying time of the year where i have to come in every 30 mins to dunk the hands in the tub. Small price to pay.

Happy New Year Everyone... N.Y. Day drift racing at Hollyburnsailingclub.ca The VARC fleet abandoned racing around noon in the Jericho area from what I could see but we prevailed starting at 2pm. Was tough keeping up with the fleet captain on his RS400 but I read some puffs better and managed to dead downwind & catch up. Two seconds & one first finish ( uncorrected). Thank goodness I can pump as per Sailboats rules.

HNY nicely windy so rigged 4.7 Slog bobbed out as it died off. 5.3 fine but a bit much later as wind came back after a few. Front footstraps a game changer, also longer fuselage, able to control rise, pump over waves, move up/downwind. Had moved foil 1in back & mast base 2in forward between a dozen runs. better speed! Gybes still futile nosedive mayhem :( assembly/in/out much faster/smoother :) was cold in 3.5/4.5mm, winter suit time!

Thanks for a great start to 2025 foiling! GregCan just came in, said it was dying. Twizz was just leaving the beach for his manvan. Not encouraging. But, I was all dressed up and GTG. So off I went and in the light winds and was quickly on foil! BGLM wins again! Big Gear Little Man. Had a cool woo hoo pass with 57km MarathobSon. It was an excellent carvy session with the polar bear hordes building on the beach. Woo Hoo 2025! More please!

Happy New Year! Never Give Up! i was just hanging out at Willows, as I usually do when who to my wondering eyes should appear but The Twizz and his tiny Wing-gear. HAHA! I arrived at 9am to a very quiet Willows Tea Room. GregCan arrived and then The Twizz-master arrived and I rigged 6.0m Sailworks Flyer to ensure foiling. Awesome session with OG Gord Lengkeek -- lots of woo hoo's and close passes. Once again the 5.5m and 1080 were the perfect combo for up and down lighter trade winds. 2024 was my entry into the world of foiling and I'm super grateful for all the support, wisdom and camaraderie I've received from all y'all! Looking forward to 2025.

Thanks to all for a great foiling year! 2024's ultimate foil ride was anything but awesome, but it was flight! My small 6m got nada. I switched to my big Mantis and luckily got on foil. Got a couple of woo hoo passes with Bobson! Wind was light, so coming off foil was bad. When my foiling jibe failed, the wind was done - right when GregCan and TnT decided to come out. Oh well, there's always next year...

Finished work and headed to CP to check it out as Monks was headed to Willows to check it out. Arrived at 1:45pm and it looked great. solid 10kts with some more in the gusts. Rigged a FAT 6.0m Sailworks Flyer and put on the 1700cm2 front foil to ensure foiling. As I got on the water the wind had decreased down to 6-8 with some 10kt gusts. Managed to get 2 hours in at the boat launch today. Arrived at 3rd as the wind was dying, just before 11. Waited around for a bit and was going to pack it in but decided to drive down to the boat launch and just take a look. The wind looked like it was filling back in a bit and decided to try the light wind gear out. Fun and cruisey short session to make it home in time for dinner. The glide of the 1080 in lighter winds with ocean swell like this is a GD dream. Made my first successful foot switch and continued toeside progression.

A wee surge of SE at Turkey Head. Tried 899 but no dice. Switched to the session saver 1010 and got some foil time before new year's. Sailed out past the reefs and the Victor Juliet buoy towards the golf course, then it lulled so headed back. Current was pretty slack. Got some sun! No useful track - it paused after my first slog.
