Details | That was freakin' amazing!!! Arrived early to not much inside but whitecaps out off C-Lover Pt. and SE at the beach. Sam I Am and Mrs. Sam I am kept working their way down the Goat Hill parking lot as cars left, finally he got 2nd rock star parking cause I nailed MY rock star spot upon arrival. The wind at the beach finally turned SW so I rigged up the 6.2m Ensis "Power Wing". Sam I am rigged up their boards while his +1 sat in the truck enjoying life. Dood, I want that set up!! Anyways, I headed out in probably 10-12kts on the inside but stronger gusts were coming through and I hit one on the way out and basically foiled right away. WooHoo!!! The wind kept picking up and the 'Wingers' kept showing up. Everyone and their uncle were there ('cept Twizz and Windoc). I nailed 3 or 4 jibes planing through and able to sheet in and keep going and stayed dry on most of the rest. I think I fell in 3 times, so pretty good. One jibe on the outside I turned on a huge wave and kept foiling down the face and turned and was still ripping, definitely my best jibe so far. The 5.0m KT Direct Drive Wing is much, much easier to jibe than the 6.2m Ensis. size matters, but I'm thinking the smaller the better. Maybe that's just me. HA!! I had to come in many times to recover as my arms feel 6" longer as it was probably the windiest that I've been out Winging in. I think I could have done better but the waves were crazy. The tide coming in hard and it was building up the swells very steep. I'm thinking 3-4ft'ers. Definitely the most challenging conditions I've been out in so far. I can't wait for some flat water and 12-15kts. As I was leaving Newbie John came and stole my parking spot again. good timing dood!! BOBSON OUT!! ps. I really can't wait until I'm more proficient at Winging so it's not so tiring. [from Session Log on Sunday May 12, 2024] |
