Hi Rob,

Send me a description of the sandals. It looks like my children are going to "bully" me into taking them this weekend rain or shine and I will take a look.

How is the firewood situation? If the weather forcast holds I'm going to need lots . . .

Morley I am with you. I have a real problem with the special lounge provided to those with extra cash. It is definitely creating a class society based on individual wealth and it makes my skin crawl. However, I do have to admit that I am enough of a hypocrite that I have made use of the reservation ...

MB, I certainly reacted in a knee-jerk way with my original post.

I really loved being at Nitinat and would hate to see it change.

The Laissez-faire attitude of the current keepers has worked (for the most part) to our advantage. Management brings regulations and restrictions . . .

However, I ...

My personal experience with Nitinat has been wonderful and my children love it there. I would hate to see it regulated like a Provincial Campground with reservations required and people turned away for "no vacancies".

I love the fact that it is never "full". In other words if there are no "sites ...

Hey Moe . . . especially those dang hillbillies from the Sunshine Coast . . . (moonshine drinking, pot smoking hippies –all of us)!

In all seriousness . . . I know for a fact that this last bit of controversy has given the wrong impression of island sailors to other people reading this forum ...

Thanks Morley for both the glove and the after-water advice too. I believe it was Moe who told me he keeps an old down jacket with him too and just throws it on over his wetsuit (or drysuit?) when he gets out of the water. It never ceases to amaze me (and the tourists) how warm you can actually be ...

Right now I wear heavy surf gloves and they keep my hands reasonably warm when I'm submerged - however all of me gets pretty cold when I'm out of the water for any length of time (I have an Excel 5-4-3).

I realize that a dry suit will likely take care of the body chill (do they make them small ...

I did not mean to offend anyone

Sorry guys but this really got a bit crazy. I do love being out in the surf and I have no illusions about being good at it . . . which is why I asked in my Friday post about the safest location in Tofino to go.

My post yesterday was only because I believe the post "Chic: nice surf weather eh? - Jan ...

To Colin, Matt and Mystery "Guest" - drilling through the bar and tying knots appears to have done the trick. Thank you again for your input. Now all I need to do is learn how to fly the darn thing . . .

The beauty of duct tape - I just don't know how people survived before internet, duct tape and post-it notes.

Thank you for the advice - I even have a drill - I hate to look like an idiot  but do I need a special bit for metal?

As far as the knots are concerned (to Mattdog too) they wouldn't ...

If the leader lines are the ones that the thinner kite lines chicken loop into I have them and have reattached them to the bar copying from the other side . . . if that is what you meant . . . but I'm not sure how I can prevent them from slipping off the end under high pressure since it is ...

It is a small kite - OR 1.8 (I think) - but in 40 knot wind it feels pretty big! (Okay, I realize that maybe we shouldn't have been flying it in those conditions but it was pretty fun - for my brother that is - I doubt I would have been able to control it at all).

Even in lesser winds it is still ...
