Teabag wrote:3 Questions about Nitinat:

1: Are we still allowed to camp on the beach? (yes still paying the $15 per night)

2: Is there still parking area for people to camp on the beach?

3: Is the Sauna re built? Are they going to allowed it like previous years?
Any help needed?

Tks for any info, Ian
The sauna wasn't rebuilt as of last weekend, but the structure was dismantled and stored away from the beach for the winter so assuming nobody prohibits it the sauna could be rebuilt much more easily than last year's efforts.

I didn't see any change to the parking setup compared to last year. There was at least one tent in the woods behind the beach, but the campsite as a whole was pretty empty so I doubt anyone was paying close attention.

Weather looks great this coming week at the Nat.

Post by skipro »

judging by the previous post the traffic at Nitinat hasn't peaked to busy yet. I am planning to head out this weekend and stay into next week.
Just wondering if anyone else is planning on staying past Sunday? see below.

I went the same weekend last year an arrived at midnight on the Thursday after the ferry, and woke up Friday morning to find I was the only camper in the park. Man was that erie, as everytime I had visited previously people were parked on top of each other. I waited all day Friday, and until noon on Saturday before another soul showed up. Not to keen on hitting the water alone, I waited until Sat at about 5pm to get my first reach in. It started to rain Sunday so I hit the road. Sailing total: less than 1 hour...

Long and the short, should I bring the surfboard and plan to hit Tofino from Monday on, if Nitinat is going to be a ghost town...Don't mind the serenity, just perfer some more bodies for the watersports. Ha Ha, I know one of you just said in your head "man this dude needs to make some friends"....point taken.

Plans are made to be broken anyway.

I will be in the Lime green Westfalia (assuming it makes it from Squamish)...

See you at the Nat!

I know of a few of us who may be there Saturday... though Randy's forecast doesn't make mention of the Nat so I'm a bit skeptical...

Hi,

Arriving Sunday midday and sailing thru Tuesday, getting a late boat home Tuesday night.

I think mtm and Bobson will be there Monday too?

I gotta new couple of new boards that need to get wet.

PS - Nitinat Bill? We are supposed to hook up re. some gear you sold my buddy Rob. I have his cash. Blue GM pick-up with blue canopy and Gaastra stacker racks.

Sunday was rocking as well. Lots of fun without many people on the water.

If anyone found a NeilPryde bootie size 10 at Nitinat (near the bulletin board) can you let me know. I lost one a couple of weeks ago. Thanks.

Hi,

I was there in early June and the store was closed, so bring lots of ice.

Bobson, BidD, mtm, Folo, BA, Banjohips (you know who you are)..... are you heading up to the Lake for July long? I am arriving tomorrow (June 30) for an extended stay through the weekend following. Bringing SUPs (and beer) in case it doesn't blow at first. Weather looking better into next week! See you up there.

Skip the lake and head to the OR coast Keith! The beer is cheaper and the sailing better, the kids will prefer the sandy beach!

Hi Tony,

I hear you on the beer. Actually going solo as my two sons are in soccer camp on the Island and my wife prefers yard work to my company at Nitinat?

Re. Oregon - I need a tune up in my sailing skills before the Coast (some of those pics terrified me as I usually get beat up in 2'-4' onshore at Tribune Bay) and Nitinat is the place for easy sailing. I would probably get killed on the coast right now. But I am considering it (one day).....am bring the whole family down to Oregon in early August.

PS - will likely be bring 2 SUPS to Nitinat (9'8"x30" Element SUP and a 10'0"x34" Whopper SUP) if anyone wants to try one out lemme know....assuming they both fit on my roof rack.

Keith

I am not sure sailing a flat lake will get you tuned up for the coast, the gym or the Gorge maybe....nothing like coast TOW or in the washing machine to be better for coast TOW :!:
