The web cam was installed on Dec 29, 2002 at Island View Beach in Saanichton BC looking east (ENE) towards James Island (see map below). The web cam should auto refresh every 30 seconds during daylight hours.

The webcam points slightly downwind and it is generally windier than it looks, maybe. Kelp Reef and the Victoria Airport can give an estimation of the wind on the water. The best winds are generally from the SE/S, but a NE can be sailed here too.
