Thanks to Bobson's OSR, I left my football fest for foiling possibilities. Bobson was consistently up despite it feeling marginal at the ramp. I rigged my 6m wing and continued on with my blow-up board practice. Not the best weapon in the light winds due to the inflatable's stickiness. But it lifted pretty well and jibed nicely in the light winds. Lots of sail traffic but I managed to not hit anything except a crabtrap buoy. Sunshine foiling!

Super fun until the wind died. Variable winds and big waves - I felt like I was riding them in a way that I haven't before. The 5.5 seemed to be perfect middle ground; at times I was overpowered and at times it took me a while to get on foil. Continued glacial progression on the gybes. I'm more comfortable going into gybes with a lot more speed now, which of course is essential. In fact it's Step 7 in the gybe rehab handbook.

Arrived at Noon as I saw Discovery bump up a bit. Thinking I was just being hopeful, arrived to 6-12kts. I wasn't super positive as there looked like more 6 than 12 so I put on the big 1700cm2 front foil and rigged the 6.0m Sailworks Flyer super fat! Got out and was on the foil before the first marker, forgetting to start my GPS but remembered soon after. Awesome to have enough wind to use the 880 front wing. Birthday boy Alex getting some solid controlled foils today! I was focused on really trying to engage with the waves and also the gybe rehab of course. A bit more speedy today. For months the turn radius of my gybe attempts was too tight. Best day of the year.... so far ,but was a super fun session lots of nice swell to be found on the outside, down in the bay and smooth bowls off the point where it was a bit messy but still fun. Lots of wipeouts , gopro on my chest hit my lip twice in the same spot giving me a fat lip and came out of the water just in time for my baord to hit me between the eyes giving me two black eyes looks like ross bay won the fight this time but I'll be back Warm day with lots of people out.

Arrived to diminishing wind so went with the downwind board but turns out it was still solid 20-25 knots. Should have been on the sinker. Didn't want to waist time changing gear. Fun steep waves off Clover in the strong ebb. Kelp off the point has reduced quite a bit since my last westerly. Sunny and warm.

Really blew it today. Chose the wrong wing, foil was too far forward and stab was too big. 2.5m was a challenge, every time the wind dropped I floundered and got blown farther down wind. Too stubborn to come in and re-rig I kept on trying, hoping the wind would fill back in. It teased me enough to keep me going out eventually finding myself all the way down at Locarno. Another super light wind session on all the huge gear - challenging conditions for gybe practice. Gybevoidance relapse. When I first started to make gybe attempts my mind would start racing with all of the technical things garnished from endless foiling YouTube videos, and also all of the potential catastrophes that were about to befall me. First sail of the year, and first in about 4 weeks. Longest time off the foil since I started. Landed at YYJ at 11am and foiling by 2pm! Surfed very day of my 3 week trip to Costa Rica, so was more keen to just rip around the bay and practice sailing, more than swell riding today. Good to be back and see the locals.

Arrived late and during a lull so I went with my sml 6m. Then it amped up again and I was quickly OP'd. I tried getting used to my blow-up board again. There was much learning and even much more crashing. Stupid fun though! It was a jiber's dream with no shortage of power. Stayed close to shore with my 6m, way too big much as I neared the point. Post shred brews with Danno was a perfect ending. I needed that hit of wind bad!

Arrived late to a not so good spot on Goat hill, hiked my gear down to the water. Had an awesome session on the 70L board and 4.0, could have used a 3.0 at times. Some flyby's with Tuna, Shaggy and BWD. No energy to hike back to the van so moved to the VIP parking.

Arrived early....again too ensure my Rockstar parking spot. check. It looked ok and maybe 12-18kts. GregCan arrived and agreed it didn't look that windy. I headed out and it was windy, 20-25kts. No whitecaps visable but the 4.5m Sailworks Flyer was well overpowered. I came in close to shore and yelled at GregCan that it was Windy Wendy!! Fun rip in the Sunshine at the FT! Used the surfboard at first and had a few fun toight carves throwing Spray, then busted out the TT for some fun boosties. Hadn't been on it in a looooong time. Seven kites and a few Wingdings enjoying the not-too bad temps.
Called it quits when fingers started to get numb and through the MTOH before counterflow went in. Stoked!
Now trying to figure out how to upload GPS track from new Garmin watch!

The forecast looked good with the trade winds returning, but it was a bust. One hour of slogging with a teeny bit of foiling before sunset. Lots of foilers at the beach ready and rigged, so at least there were lots of people to commiserate with. One thing I find interesting here is that half the foilers wear high viz clothing, which not only makes sense from a safety standpoint but also makes it so much easier to see and identify people on the water. Step 3 in gybevoidance rehab is to follow the wisdom of the elders -- in this case Tweezer! The trade winds were replaced by light Kona winds last week, and I remembered that the same thing happened to Tweezer last year. I went with the colourful Model1 but the gray Model2 is what we got.
Adequately powered on the 5M for most of it. Just enough swell for Tweezer's wing dances.
