Two Sunset Sessions on a lovely night. One Aloha style the later one in Steamer & Drytop. Sailing alone (sorry to of missed you all morning folks) I wore a life jacket ( c/w with overboard light)
No more smog on the horizon, everything was beautiful out there. Except the overpowering gusts. Need 7 meters of sail for this place. It might even satisfy the gods of Red Skies at Night........

Pipering hot sessions at PL!So nice to be winging on the 4m and still have lots of carving power on sesh one. Lots of folks out with Leddy, Danno, Doc Mark, and many locals. Stayed mainly in the bay and played wingsurfing games near shore. Ventured out with the big boys occasionally in the big swell, but that was mildly terrifying for me. Tried to fly my small gear in sesh 2 (90L board/1200 foil) but the winds had reduced and my limited lifting skills couldn't get it flying even with 6m. Switched back to my ... (more)

Wind remained quite West today (WNW) but at least stayed steady without a major lull while we were out Maybe could of been on it sooner and expected the wind to be a bit stronger but very happy with what we got. Nice swell to play on and no tide impact with upwind ability. Good turn out...Markus, Hajo, Vlad on WS, Dan, Ang, Sam J. and several others on wingfoils.

So warm! Started out breezy and looking to ramp up. It lightened up off the point not long after getting out but it stayed windy close to shore. Things get sketchy when it's too light to waterstart and you have to uphaul in rolling 3' swells... advantage wingers...
Managed to gets some nice downwind swell rides. Ribs feeling a lot better. Looks like it came back up a lot when I was packing up.

Fantastic summer sesh with the OGs and sporting a shorty suit. Went out with my old Naish 5m and was quickly OP'd. I came in and switched to 4m to save the stitching on the Naish. Gorgeous big swells that reminded me of Pipers. But that water temp was not Pipers tropics. Not really sure what the attraction is for those cold water swimmers. The wind and swell was the big attraction while on wing. Got a couple of kelp hits, but still not as thick as last year. Thanks for the fun, RB!

Arrived just as the wind started building. Pumped up my favourite wing and heard it hiss through the valve. Oh no. Thankfully Mr. NS let me use his 3m then his 4m. Second half I went to the 2.5 and big board and 880 with short mast. That was a tricky combo to get used to. Lots of kelp hits, but all that didn't really matter since the swell was A+.

Another amazing day at Ross bay. Timed it right , a little light on the 4M in the beginning but really ramped up to overpowered. Huge big lined up smoothies deep down in the bay with big holes in the wind, gusty, kelp bombs, made it all challenging but the waves were so perfect it made it worthwhile . Lots of highspeed crashes. Smiles and hoots all around kiters getting massive air up at the point.

Road trips and house projects are eating into foil time at RB so happy to get out. Started on the 4 and was well powered besides the amount of junk in the water. Swell faces cleaned up and got big so switched to the 3m and it was on. Did a nice top turn into a breaking foam ball that felt great.

I almost missed it. Sick people at home combined with work had be down on water end of evening. I was staring at the camera all afternoon missing the fun' Lol. Got out nonetheless and caught some sizeable swell. Lots of power out there at first and then, again, wind drop, the long swim in as wind died out entirely leaving six or so stranded way out. biggest problem today with seaweed. There were several long 100 strung-out blobs that were increasingly hard to get around without getting snagged. Anyway, s ... (more)

Felt weird to fly such a small kite, feel safer on the 18m since it is so much more floaty. Was fun though. Probably last time kiting at cook st for the next 4-5 years but Rufus in summer and Utah/Idaho snowkiting during winter might be a good trade off for a change.

Whiplash!
Much anticipated! With 34 kts at RaceRock on "Latest Reports" it had to flow down to Clover? I rigged big expecting a repeat from yesterday's swim. It came in strong and sustained well into the evening. OPd at times with the 4m/1000cm. Sporting a shorty wetsuit, I was quickly reminded that this wasn't Tropical Pipers. Many kelp/debris strikes with cold plunges for good measure.
Never gets old : ))

Finally some wind to try the new DW Dragonfly. Managed OK when there was wind to balance. Managed to foil kneeling for quite a way and its great slogging, it goes twice as fast as the Takuma. Fell in lots but then I aways do. Some challenging waves - towards the point they were big and breaking and kinda confused, I didn't go way downwind but they looked fabulous down the bay. Foiled around to toeside once. Foil came unexpectedly up on the side I ditched from going downwind, I landed flat and just felt ... (more)

The school 2024 NEO was used by a client, and not put away' So I may as well use it for a bit before I had to pack it up. Like the kite, very lively, but that is to be expected from a 7m kite.
Wind was gusty and narrly. Did not want to fight with the surf board, so used the Mako.

Great to have the wind return to RB after a week away! Got to the beach around 3pm as Danno and GregCan were switching out for smaller wigs. Rigged my 5.5m, launched and then realized I should have rigged my 4m. Switched to my 4m and also from my MA1475 to my MA1225. The wind built throughout my session and the conditions were challenging with bigger breaking swells and strong current off Clover. Things got very gusty and holey for the last hour. Great to see everybody out!

Quick session - probably on it too early as wind was gusty and the flood was generating huge blocky seas with steep faces.
