Not much when I arrived around 2pm. Hung out talked gear with some RBFC members for 45 mins. Rupp Dog and BWD showed up and it turned on right away. Super fun session back on the MA1225 and new 58L FG board. Lots of new faces learning the sport which is great to see. Hit RBP for a beer and burger after as fam is out of town. I want to start seeing more foils in trucks there after wind days!!

I would be lying if I told you this was one of the good ones. And yet, I had my fun in trying to squeeze every single drop out of the puffs I could find. Amazed at what I can get out of the Omen 1050 with only a 5m. Lot's of zero wind involving swims but who cares. Looked like it was really picking up as I started packing it in. I had to take what I could get as we head to Cali this afternoon. Dididat next week.

After a week of finicky winds at RB it was so nice to get a solid day! 26 km -- a new record for me. Worked on gybes with minor improvements. Got Tunacan'd a few times and had some fun passes with Gdawg, RupDogg, GregCan and Highrocker. Lots of stoke on the beach, and great to see and talk to lots of people I haven't seen for a while.

Well, ate my lunch and all of a sudden there was wind' So I put my big boy pants on and pumped up my 5.0m KT Direct Drive with its new bladder and grabbed the KT Wing Drifter 130 and headed out. Flat water and 15kts was almost perfect. Even though I fell in more in the next hour and 15 mins than I have in the past year of Windfoiling, it was worth it. On the small board (to me) I got lots of rides and stayed dry 50% of my jibes, I'm pretty sure I looked like a moon out there woohoo'ing on all my still ... (more)

It was blowing all morning, very gusty. I decided I couldn't wait any longer and headed out on the Windfoil as not enough for Winging. Enjoyed 2 hours of gusty, cold condition. Drizzled the whole time. After 50kms, I pulled the plug as it was getting lighter so came in for lunch'.to be continued'..

Hatchery is freaking amazing for learning DW SUP foiling! Had my best and longest rides, but balancing on the 110L is tricky with all of the water moving around! A 120L might be a better choice. Such a grind to learn but once you're up and foiling so worthwhile. Knackered at the end.

I met another hopeful soul, RDog, parked at the Mayor's spot, both of us hoping for the forecast to come true. There was a bit of build up, so we both jumped in to give it a shot. We got a few lifts, but the juice just wasn't worth the squeeze. So much pumping to get up and stay up, even with my big 2000sqcm foil. Eventually it all died off and luckily I was closer to the beach. RDog followed me in a few minutes later. Hoping on Thursday's forecast. Thanks for sharing the slog, RDog!

Raining this morning so spent the day in Parksville with my daughter, returned at 4:30pm to what looked like 10-13kts so pulled out the 7.0m Sailworks Flyer and headed out. On the foil right away so have a HUGE WOOHOO!! First 5 mins was good but then wind increased to 12 gusting 20 so had to hang on to the gigantic power sail and had an amazing 2 hour workout. Should have come in for the 4.5m but too lazy so sailed super overpowered for 2 hours until I got my 50kms then called it a day and came in for an Ic ... (more)

Up at dawn - ok 6. Coffee then back to the hatch. First session in the morning was 2m. Looking downwind you could see clouds of spray being lifted off the surface by the event site. Later session on 3.5. Swells were big and smooth in spots. Reminded me of clover se conditions but 20 degrees warmer! Wingdoc downwind paddling in the morning - getting some long rides! Light green forecast on Model2, only 14 kts at Entrance Island, sunny and 22 DegC. I took the bait!
10:30 Silver Seas! I joined Scott and Miker on the early shift. Nicely powered on the 5.0/1000cm for the first half. Two footers at the point, better swell lines north of the Hudsons. Second shift with Juan and Luz. A bit light for the 5m but still manageable.
Well worth the trip :))

Sunny morning session at Pipers with the big gear. The Pipe has been pretty quiet so far this season, but nice to get out and blast around with some solid wind for the 7.0m. Several wingers out but no local fins.

Upwind leg and round Point Grey at 1030. Not much swell, so started downwind in broad reach mode. Sweet 7m!

Day 2 of the big swell was even bigger and uncharacteristic of The Cape, the wind was really light. Jesse and Tony got out early and scored some nice clean sets. I waited for the wind to build, which never happened, and ended up getting a beat down. Rigged 4.7, which wasn't enough and got pounded in the impact zone. I managed to get out a few times but just when you thought you had a wave the wind would disappear and it would roll by you leaving you to get pounded by the next one. The wind ended up getting ... More struggle-bus action! Started on the big APF first but feels too far forward and I only had a few short runs on it need to move it much further back. Paddle ups are coming. Lots going on to manage, especially balancing on a rolling log with a paddle. Later switched to 1080 and got one excellent 800m ride before I lost the swell. Consider these sessions mini victories as the pain is just outweighed by the stoke of riding open river on just a SUPfoil. Mark and Ryan shredded the 'dings.

I was going to head to Esq Lagoon, but thanks to a head's up from ULR, I switched to RB and got some foil lovin for about an hour. Doc Mark was already in and doing his usual awesomeness. It was very warm and I was tempted to just go shortie suit. I needed to test out my 6m after repairs. Passed the test but was way OP'd. Switched to my Naish 5m and was pleasantly surprised at the performance of my first wing ever. Matt and others joined in at mid-sesh, but the winds reduced. Thanks for the bevy, John!

Love the surfboard, don't like that I can't transition. Stopping and repositioning the board in the water, water start and get going again, lost ground every time. Need to change my approach on learning kiting on a surfboard.

It's Wing-Time!! Finished my 2 hour morning Windfoil session, had lunch and pumped up the 6.2m as it looked like 12-15kts. It was, took foot straps off and put on the 1100cm2 front foil and 255 stab with the shorter 95cm fuse and longer 95cm mast. Had a great first 90 mins of foiling but then wind got light and only managed a couple of foiling runs in the 2nd 90mins so lots of schlogging to finish the day off. Sunshine broke through for the last 90 mins of schlogging and sat in the sunshine and drank a v ... (more)

Light wind all morning so got on the Windfoil at Noon and headed up the inlet until the wind got light and puffy after an hour so turned around and cruised back down and wind got stronger. Fun dodging the fish boats and riding through all the wakes. Felt like there was enough wind to go Winging so came back in and had lunch and pumped up the 6.2m Ensis.

Some nice waves rolled in and so did the wind. Started on the 4.2 and was over powered but stuck with it for a while. Lunch break and then back out on the 3.7 into full on Cape Hate. Caught a few nice waves but soon could no longer hold onto the 3.7.

In town for 4 days. Quickie retreat from local chores. Missed the Club Race to Dundarave and back. About 8 boats were out. Leaders back in 2 hours.
Mix of Cloud fronts and Convective cells made Lions Gate Vancouver look like New York SailGP conditions. Great to sail in just boardshorts. Sail to small but it all works. No WAZP's were out but lots of regatta activity accross the bay. They likely were away or chasing wind.
