sketchy launch as it was coming in.. timed it perfectly again! 12m was well powered almost the whole session.. wind angle changes of 15-20 degrees coming into the bay! gusty af near the cliffs and then big rain squall scared everyone away! looked like it was windy most of the afternoon after that rain.. even some sun maybe!

The day looked challenging when I arrived and so it was. The wind was gusty and it definitely kept me on my toes. Lots of lift for some easy foot changes and some nice swell to slash. I had a good session but the punchy wind was tiring and I was only good for an hour. I came in and self landed with some lofty wind which required some care and caution. I put my gear away and was glad for it since I saw a large rain squall approaching. The wind ramped up as the squall approached and all the kites came i ... (more)

Chilly session!! Started lit on 4m and small board/foil with some floaty jumps. Wind backed, and went back out on Dfly and 1225. That DW board keeps being a session saver!! Speed over 100M was on the road, but max speed was in the water. Too lazy to edit.

Looked on the lighter side when I arrived and lots of people on 5m's so I rigged the 5. Super lit for one tack before heading back in for the 3m which was great for the first hour. Breeze dropped for the second half so I got the 5m back out. Fun waves in the river today, I had a couple of great rides all the way to the bottom of the bay. Practiced tacks for a bit but couldn't really make it happen.

Second log from RB ever. Saw a couple of familiar faces. First outing for my other half at RB. She did pretty well but took some pretty punishing gusts with her 4m mid afternoon, she would have been much happier on a 3m. She said she had fun, and will go back. Music to my ears!

Got on the water about 1:30, looking windy outside and it was. First 1/2hr seemed a little holey and was quite flat so went over to the dark west side to play with the kiters as it was considerably better wind and waves. Then wind amped and waves ramped and the downwinger train was on! Lots of great rides. Big wing crowd. Fun fun!

Big 3 session day. 1st hour at Willows trying to make spotty, gusty conditions work with GregCan. Moved to RB when the road was reopened and got some amazing action. Not too big at first so I started with the 6m. That lasted about 10min and quickly switched to 5m. Could have gone to 4m if I was playing beyond the point. Ocasionally OP'd, but still good. Took a break and then did a 3rd session with Idefix. The swell had grown to 3ft at the point. A bit gusty, but great powered sessions. So many wingers now!

Arrived at 12:15pm to get my 'rockstar' parking. Dr. Marky-Mark and the funky bunch were there too. Looked like some peeps (Jumping Steve and T&T) were rigging up down the backroads. It looked windy 15+ but gusty so I rigged smaller, 4.5m Sailworks Flyer. Not much wind in the bay but 15kts outside. The first 20 mins was touch and go as there were some holes but after a bit it filled in and Wings started appearing everywhere. I put in an hour and then called it to go home and watch the Canucks and finish ... (more)

Got to Pat Bay 8am and wind was much too South. Dropped dog off at home and made the journey into Vic to find Ross Bay unaccessible for TC10k run. Drop to Cattle but didn't look good, Ross Bay was the only place to be I think. Drove back to PB, listened to Neil Young marathon. Still bad, went home to use bathroom and wait for updated forecast model2. 11am still looked promising so went back to PB. Well, really no point ( and almost embarrassed to upload) to log this one, other than to illustrate to my wife why i occasionally come in sweating like a pig, and not as happy- there just wasn't enough wind :-(
Had some chorin to do first thing, so missed the last of the SE. Too little is WAY more frustrating than too much.
Keeping the wing inflated just in case it rebuilds.

Popped out of bed early, checked the wind and RB cam, packed up and texted Tweezer "heading to RB". Looked pretty light when i arrived with only Docker out and Bobson rigging up some foreign looking craft (lost his wing gear?) Rigged my ultra light wind kit. A short schlog on the inside, then got to the wind and it was a lot windier than i thought with plenty of dark water and white caps west of of the point and making their way towards the bay. After a few reaches it was overpowered and twitchy ... (more)

Nice short session! Foilers were coming in to switch to smaller wings/sails so I stayed with my 5m. It was good enough, but with my inefficient skills, the 6m would have been better. Best winds were at the point and had a nice follow-cam capture of the greatness of ULR and the Twizz! Great to be out there with the Bobson, GMan, Greg, and Matt. The winds reduced after about an hour and there was much slogging in order to avoid a WOS. Better winds Sunday!

Scored the low tide session (4-6pm) with small knee high but clean breaking waves on 8m+surfboard with Slappy and Jaryn. SE 16-20 was a little marginal for my 8m but still preferred a smaller kite. Surprisingly lots of weed for this time of year. Called it quits when it started flooding with waves becoming disorganized.
Overall grateful for a good wave session with such a sketchy forecast. :D :D :D

My daughter woke me up at 6, so I got her back to sleep and checked the wind. Made it to the beach by 7 and had a solid 2.5 hrs of gusty wind.. rigged to big to start so came in for a smaller wing then again for a smaller foil and again for my short board when the swell started getting bigger. Ok session but so may gear changes makes it hard to be consistent.

Got there too late. A puff got me up and out. Couple short reaches and it got super light so beelined it for shore and got in on foil in a couple knots. Glassed off as I packed up.

Morning Session: Arrived at clover and saw Clive on the water solo, he looked pretty powered up so I rigged the 5m and headed out. Once on the water it was gusty with a few lulls, when the rain hit the wind started dropping so it was a race to get back to shore so I didn't have to swim. Decent morning session.

Arrived early to Docker bringing in his 6.0m and rigging his 4.5m with his DW board. Rigged my 5.2m and tried out the small board for the 1st time Windfoiling. Didn't like it. So much different than my big freeride board. I think I need stronger, steadier wind...haha, doesn't everyone want that. Anyways, tried it for first 30 mins and then came in and changed to big board. Waaaaay better, more Wing-Doods showed up and wind picked up to 15-20kts so I came in and rigged the 4.5m and it was good for an hour wi ... (more)

Barely woke up in time to see ULR's "heading to RB" text. Slurped a coffee, scarfed a bagel, slipped into my suit and I also was "heading to RB". Clover Point Slop was biggest early and then it smoothed out into a serene other worldly liquid playground with butterflies. Was I still dreaming? Was it all a dream? Is my outie aware of my innie?

Took a while to build - which meant an hour in the fester position-ie sitting at the kitchen table, drysuit half on, staring at the wind line out in the bay.
Once it did come in it was good - a little more south than usual, which had the swell a little less stacked up.
Made for some longer rides, was good.

Short and sweet. Showed up to Bobson rigging up with a few other familiar foilers out reminding me how much I have to learn. Things were quiet on the inside with enough on the outside to make it worth the slog. Splotchy conditions but worth it with just enough swell and wind when needed. I feel like I am starting to learn how to squeeze just about anything I need out of the Omen foil. So good. Wind eventually dropped after an hour and my 5m just wasn't enough to carry on. Awesome session regardless.

Not often I get to write a log at 945 in the morning. Early start in gusty, punchy wind. Was intending on kiting the Ross bay side but once the kite was in the air I realized it was very gusty and was dropping right down at times. Made the decision to stay west of clover. All by myself until j-dog arrived as I got out.

Nice session with some breakthroughs in my toe side tacks. Nice breeze for most of it on the 5m and small foil. Getting the board higher out of the water before starting the turn made all the difference in those tacks! WAAYYY more time in the air as opposed to on my knees. What a difference that made! Unfortunately I wasn't paying attention for a while trying to get going in more marginal winds. When I turned around I found I was inside the reef so went to the shallows and walked back over the reefs and to ... (more)

Surprise sunset session that was just soooo fracking good! Strong onshore winds but very kind swell that made it easy to get out. Lower winds at the start forcing us to go with big wings to counter the strong onshore. But it quickly ramped up to 20ish in the bay. Got lots of great play and short flags at the grandstand, right in front of the teahouse. Dipped my toe in further out, but that demanded a 4m wing. Well powered carves in the bay was priceless. Thanks to PopeMan, MtnarG, Gordo, Jon, and OR rider ... (more)
