Well, that was an unexpected delight.
Unusual ( for this area) SW made for a nice sideshore experience. Wind was more consistent than it looked, and some really fun wave rides ( with the wing ALMOST flagged out). Fell quite a bit, but most of them due to hitting misc botanical bits.
Had to come in after an hour or so and dunk the hands in the hot tub ;-)

First session of the year and the first session in 2 months. I felt a little wobbly on the surfboard and fell off a couple times but it sure was good to get back on the water. I had to take two cracks at getting up wind enough to not be running up against the reef on the windward side of Clover, mainly because the wind lulled as I was starting my session. Got on site early evening, things were looking a little spotty. A few wingers out there, but no joy. Decided to rig up and give it a shot. Luckily conditions were favourable enough and I had one of the better sessions I've had in a long time. Wind died out after an hour, but light was also starting to fail. Despite only minor swell, a lot of fun. Looking forward to some more consistent wind.

I was being optimistic with the 6.5m but it exploded from 0 to OP almost immediately. Weird getting chop and seeing whitecaps at the entrance to the bay but having zero knots in the bay for like 10-15 minutes.
Good OP practice and good exercise. Saved some in the tank for tomorrow, hopefully.

Early arrival today, had the whole bay to myself for the first half hour ride. Started out on the Sab 1100 as it was a bit light, this was my first time using the foil in any sea state in awhile, crazy how much you feel the power of the chop. It dropped after about an hour and I stayed out in what was definitely the lightest breeze I have been able to consistently foil in to date. Fun in the swells with the local talent. Followed MtnarG's lead and went in with my biggest wing. Good choice early on with lighter slightly onshore winds. Then the wind speed got turned up and was quickly OP'd. But OP'd is much preferred to UP'd for me. Jibes were constantly well powered. I just needed to adjust to jibing in the swells. Showed up at about noon. First real session in a long while and it was about perfect for enough wind usually to foil easily and nothing too challenging. Fell on every gybe attempt but getting hands switched and most of the way through the turn. One dry gybe where i dropped to taxi on the outside. Thanks for the T-shirts ULR!

Arrived early @9am to light wind, 10kts with Fray-Fray just having come back in with his 5.0m and gigantic front foil(2100). Docker parked behind me and we all headed out, Fray still on his 5.0m and Docker and I rigging 6's. We foiled for about an hour in marginal conditions but always seemed like at least 10kts. Then it picked up to about 15-18kts and everyone else showed up (except BWD/Twizz/DOG/Rupp-Dogg) all at once it seemed. Dusted off my gear and arrived at Clover as Dave and Brett was finishing their session. Decided to rig the 7m and headed out, started out light but the wind got stronger throughout the session and was almost overpowered at the end which made self landing a little tricky. For some reason my GPS isn't recording my sessions anymore, maybe I need a software update. Overall nice to have a morning weekend session and managed to finish up before the rain started.

Marginal conditions with light onshore winds when I got to WB with Danno, MtnarG, and Lancer setting up. There wasn't much at all in the bay. I ended up slogging upwind to halfway to CP to get enough of a run to get foiling. Lots of holes to pump through. The best winds seemed to be around MTI to CP. Danno was jibing with panache, while I struggled with my stbd jibe in the light winds. Lancer was getting lots more jibes and proved his DIY harness hook. MtnarG was up and down. With forecast for winds to die off early, I got on it early. Arrived at 8am and on the water by 8:30am. Looked light to begin with but after 10 mins it had picked up to 10-15kts which made the 7.0m more work than I like, could have used the 6.0m most of the session but better bigger than schlogger. Did some long runs out to Chatham. With the outgoing tide there were really flat sections between JJ and Chatham and some steep tidal chop inside that. Okay, best story today. I was schlogging and saw $5 in the water, if I was foiling probably wouldn't have seen it. Anyways, stopped and grabbed it. $5 richer!! I thought it might be a sign of good luck and more wind but only got the good luck part. Made it back safe and sound, I call that good luck! There was more dingy racing in Caboro Bay today. Great turnout wind was a bit light to start so headed out to Tweezers with Tweezer and a few others and found some big swell. A few fun rides wind a bit sketchy to start up after a fall ...fun overall

Good turnout this morning! Lighter inshore but some decent wind outside and the swell was a little confused but big and nice period off OB beach hotel. Wind was weird but held for a couple hours.

Foil party. Great turn out today. I started on the DW board and 4.2 m wing. Doable but i was working way to hard to get on foil. Switched to the 6m and made life much easier. Started off strong and conected a few jibes but as i got tired it became much more difficult to foot switch. The skinny board is definetly more challenging to jibe with and get your feet in the right place. Early morning start and many of the elites and us OGs were all out. Bobson was already out and rippin' with an OR winger doing ok. I followed MtnarG's lead to go a bit bigger - the onshore winds makes it tough for me to get lift, particularly with the medium shorebreak. Once I got foiling, it was truly joyful! Lots of power and mild swell to play semi-flagged out games with. Fun to watch the elite foilers and try to follow their moves. Session lasted a full GoPro battery duration and then the winds reduced.

I have now Foiled over 20,000 kms in the last 2.5 years. I started Foiling June 4, 2021. That's 32 months of foiling and an average of 625 kms/month.
That is a big WOOHOO!!!
