What a difference the right gear makes. Went out with the 799, and at first I was thinking I should have rigged up the light wind gear from yesterday. Glad I didn't as I slowly made it up wind where the wind was stronger. Once off shore near the mile marker it was a solid 20 knots with some fun small waves. I'm getting used to the straps, had to move my foil all the way back to make it feel right but now I think I've got it dialled. Ho Ho Ho - Santa delivered a double session. After snowboarding at Cypress and another turkey lunch, I was energized for the late afternoon session at 3rd Ave - as forecasted. 12m+surfboard was good for super steady ESE 18-22. Surprisingly no chop ... instead clean knee waves perfect for tons of bottom turns. Enjoyed my session with Jaryn (12m+TT) and Dan (10m+TT) until it got too dark.

A Christmas gift. Crazy swell with conditions for a 3m and the Omen 1050. Unsettled and aggressive surface with strong currents. Also tonnes of kelp and wood . Did I mention the beach of smashing timbres on your way back? Got out for a short session. Had to get back to cook Xmas dinner for family so I wasn't allowed to trash myself. Memorable day to be out. Kudos to Ryan who got the party started.

Fun Christmas session with Windjunky. Easy entry at the North launch and only a few logs to dodge. Wind built up and was lit on the 4 for most of it. Lots of big and steep faces to play on. Crazy how the spitfire handles the whitewater with ease and tip breaches. Need to try a skinny I think to speed it up maybe. Crazy rip and more shore dump on the exit made getting out more exciting. Merry Christmas/ happy holidays to everyone and hopefully more on Wednesday!

Awesome Christmas session with Mr Northsouth and a few kiters. Shorebreak wasn't bad on the way out. Had to keep it short to help with dinner, wished I could have stayed longer ;was just getting in the groove while it ramped up at the end. Some great long glides with nothing too scary although a couple waves broke over the board while up on foil and took me out.. Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animals!! Looked at Willows and IV on the website and they both looked to wavy for my liking so thought of last year at Bazan Bay and decided to go and try it. Parked at the boat ramp again and launched from there as it's fairly protected. Merry Christmas! Santa brought us a gale! Prepped some dinner items after unwrapping presents then headed to the beach to burn off the stocking-stuffer chocolate and fresh croissants. Rigged big, foil and wing, thinking it was going to be light. Big mistake! Being over powered on the 980 is nasty! Could barely keep the foil in the water! Ended up sitting on my board to make it back to shore. Changed to the 799 and all was good, for one reach anyways, then the wind died. What a waist of good wind! Arrived at CP to East 6-10kts. Looked to be building directly onshore at 2nd boat ramp so decided to drive around to 1st boat ramp. Arrived to 10-12kts with whitecaps outside so rigged the 6.0m just to ensure foiling. Well, that didn't work very well. 41st birthday session! Happy to be the first to launch! Super powered to start but off Clover it was more manageable! Steady slow drop only to have it come back again.. had to change my glove.. the 3mm were too thick and pumped out the fore arms! Lent my 8m to mark and he had a great session then David forgot his 8m so he was next to borrow the 8m! Couple nice big jumps.. more and more comfortable with that rise!!

Had the day off and was gifted big wind! Got there fairly early 10:30ish and Windoc, RossBLocal, Tweezer were already out, BWD was rigging up. It was breezy and there was some mucho gusto swell action with great runs deep into the bay. Wind was filled in deep too so allowed for some runs very close down into the shore. Has some big high speed splats on a few big bombs. A few appearances by size large Sea Lions. Great day with a lot of wingers for daytime Friday, with 12-15 at any given time on water.

Well, I wished for 4m winds and got 3-4m wildness! Thanks Santa! Challenging conditions for my newb-ish skills. Strong gusts with some pretty substantial swell had me repeatedly crashing like my beginner days! Still some residual kelpage that tackled me a couple of times. Started on the 5M ,way too much on the outside so came in pretty quick for the 4M which was perfect. Still getting used to the spitfire (a little twitchy) but does like to turn at speed and is fast in general which made for some spectacular crashes. Waves were a little lumpy especially at the point, but better further out and down in the bay. Good crew out enjoying the warm Christmas weather.

Caught the late shift, pumped up a 4 but could have been on a 3 most of time. Had a few good laps with Gustastic. MrNorthSouth showed up and ripped by enjoying the evening session. At one point a group of seals popped up. Fun times! Happy holidays to all!

Sunset session on the 4m. Decent wind with some small stuff to play on. Spitfire makes toeside tacks easy so I practiced and was successful on most attempts. It does lack the gybe slingshot into small swell glide that the 999 excels at. Happy to get out and hoping for more over the break.

Like a rookie, I left my 8m at home and it was roaring when I got there. I figured I would hang around and the wind would drop and I could take my 10m. But happily, Adrian offered to lend me his 8m Roam which funny enough I sold to him last summer. Clover delivered. Feels like months since there has been good wind. Lots of familiar faces all trying decide whether to rig big or small. The answer was probably both. Lots of range in the wind with some big gusts and lulls. Lots of otters and sea lions around and a few snorkelers to add variety to the obstacle course. Nice to be out in the sun - nothing like a dose of vitamin D at the winter solstice.

I wasn't feeling great and had a cough so decided to stay away from the gang at RB. Got off work and headed to CP as webcam looked good. I chose flat over wavy. Arrived to 20-25kts so rigged the 4.5m Flyer to get through the holes. It was great for the first hour, the swell was only 1-2 ft and seemed to be rolling in from the outside really slowly so tried to ride a few of them in but was going too quickly. Double session - After snowboarding at Cypress (and a civilized lunch at home), I scored a W 18-25 afternoon session at Spanish Banks with Angus. Surprisingly no chop for high tide ... instead clean waist high waves between SB and Dog Beach - perfect for my 8m+surfboard.

Great session. Very overpowered on the 5m at first, but gave me confidence to ride the growing swells very deep into the bay which was fun. Finally decided to come in and switch down to 3.5 but realized I left my boom at home. Ripped back to grab it, and was having a great second half to session until I came down from like 7ft to a direct impact on my left ear.
