I was really happy to be able to windsurf my last day but that was stupid windy. When I finally returned to the beach Dave asked me if I'd had fun. A big no! I described it as sailing the outside of the Cape for 2 hours. It was great to see everyone at Waterfront park, it was like a windsurf reunion, so crowded but what a nice spot. Back home now and suffering from the post Oregon Coast blues.

Greg, Paul, and Mike said there were whitecaps off MTI, so I rushed right over just in time to watch Greg slog out by MTI. Dan visited but returned to RB - intimidated by the Willows lull. I carried on with preps anyways in case the winds improved and they did! Greg was foiling beyond MTI and Paul was pumping to get on foil between Teahouse and MTI. I got out my tractor Cab6.2 and it pulled me to flight more often than not. Still had some issues with gybe consistency with the lighter winds, but that's good ... (more)

Followed MtnarG, Lancer, and Idefix into the fray late morning with my 6mX3. There was some time off foil, but flying most of the time with lots of pumping. My newly acquired gybe skill was very much humbled in the lighter winds. I got kelped often and tended to suffer from kelparanoia - the constant obsessive checking of foil and ass end for kelp klingons whenever lift is not achieved. Took a break after an hour and switched to my Cab6.2 tractor. Much more time on foil and gybe success. Played follow the l ... (more)

Dallyied getting into the water chatting and stuff. Solid fun for 1.5. Good swells but lots of weed and debris in the water. Wind got marginal just below my energy level to pump anymore. Tank was on reserve. Big debate slog/paddle in or slog out for a puff to foil risking the weed gauntlet and a longer slog/paddle in. The latter worked!

First windsurfer on the lake with the 6.2 and 115L but that didn't last long. Slow ramp up today.. still almost as windy as yesterday just powerful gusts. Ended up blasting on the 5.0 with the 99L for the rest of the day. Tons of people out again. No smoke from wild fire. Be back with the fam and friends next weekend for a couple days :)

Started on the Tiki and had a few tacks but had some trouble with the Go-Joe that I had attached to help push the board downwind. It is so far back on the Tiki that it actually catches a lot of stern wake water and it acts like a brake. I have to rethink the Go-Joe. Came in and grabbed my trusty Duke and had a great session with lots of power and loft in the wind today. It was just Rob C. and myself and when I finally came in some other kiters were starting to setup. Beautiful afterwork session!

Hard to get a read of the wind from the parking lot. Rigged 6.3 but overpowered for a run out and back. 5.4 did the trick. Fun spot to sail. Starboard tack had some small ramps to try some jumps and port tack had high speed runs into calmer waters. Nailed some smooth feeling gybes.

Few runs and it died. Hit kelp on way in resulting in a swim. Back out 1/2 hour later in better wind. Struggled in the debris field off Clover. Hit a big stick and put the first nick in my HM mast. Painfull. Died again but made it in on foil. New Mantis 5.0 felt stiff and powerful but will take some getting used to. Repeatedly tagged the water with the tips. Well used but still some life left Cabrinah X2 5.0 and 3.0 looking for a new pilot. $350 and $300

Finishing off a trip from Tofino after a couple prone sessions but no wind. SW hit the lake late afternoon and was decently steady and warm. Foiled right off the beach and had the lake to myself to start. First time on the HM mast in flat water and she is fast and doesn't ventilate when laid over which is awesome. Another winger showed up which was great and a first as well a kiter later on after I got called for dinner duty. Hopefully more tomorrow evening.

Waited and ate cherries in Bingen, it never filled in so we finally went to Doug's. There it was pretty solid 4.7/94, 3.7 tiny boards for some lightweights. Great to see Victor again, it's been years. Swell was fun and decent size but then it got holy around six. Great day. Ripping in town still, all day! Bingen solid @dinner but I had enough.

Started on the 7m and foil thinking it would be ok, was overpowered after 30mins as the wind was still picking up. Came in a rigged the 5m for a great session, managed to bang up my ankle pretty good in a crash with the foil mast, made for some interesting yelling and swearing in the middle of the lake. Giant orange gummy. First day with two sessions. After most converged on Waterfront Park, the decision was to head out to Doug's Beach. It was light by Doug's Beach standards, but still was fun (more fun than Floras Lake) and gave Jens a taste of what it can be like. When I was out on the water I had an odd encounter with a giant orange gummy (it might have been Michael on his wing, but pretty sure it was a giant orange gummy). I gave the giant orange gummy a high five as I sailed by and it disappe ... (more)

No solution. Got on the morning wind at Viento. First time sailing there for all three of us. Early wind called for big gear and was fairly steady. As the wind ramped up it became more variable with some crazy gusts rolling through! Michael looked a little warm in his 5.5 mm hooded winter wetsuit in the 30 degree sunshine. Finally all three of us called it and went into town for lunch at Boda's Kitchen then some errands in town.

Was really hoping for a nice 4.2 windsurfing session here but it was so hot I couldn't wait around on the beach, so busted out the wing again. Fun spot for winging but there were a lot of weeds.

Arrived to see idefix, highAsArocker, and tweezer schlogging in the east bay. Tweezer eventually paddled in, which made Shaggy and I walk our gear up to the Clover Corner for a launch closer to said wind line just off the point. Got going easy enough after a minor paddle out. Very light flying with some swell assist. Eventually decided it was getting to light and started to head in but only made it just inside the bay before i was becalmed. The long paddle (felt like exercise) back to the beach, but stil ... (more)

Ran to Dougs after a dismal Oregon sailing adventure part 2. Much better here & quite the Canadian reunion. George Heather John Tsawwassen C36 all in attendance. Caught the evening blow and some fun swells, nice hits, pretty lit on 94/5.3, the 5.0 wouldve done it. Speeed!!
Sail 7 wave 7 jump 4
Great berries, hot evening and very windy night and morning!
