After endless van troubles and family commitments I finally made it out of town. Met up with Jesse, Chris and Mark in Newport for the best winging day ever!! Newport is amazing!! Wish I had rigged up the gopro but was just so excited to be there I forgot. Chris witnessed my wave of the day and definitely my best wave ride ever winging. So it did happen, it was not a dream, although it was dreamy. I had almost given up coming down but so glad I didn't.

Wind took its time, didnt translate from the hatch. It did come & swells were awesome but dead spot in middle of river never left. Was a struggle then fully juiced 5.0/94. Arrived early to light wind and got some website work done and had a short nap. Woke up to 5m conditions and got out in 20+ winds and beautiful waves, just like the previous day. Perfect, except that it last about 10mins and dropped to 5kts. Floated in with idefix and put on the 1225 and slogged way out to the wind line and managed to get up to clover. Had a good 1.5hrs up there in some fun waves.

3rd try on the wing (Mantis 5.0) but this time on bigger board. Started out a bit light but thanks to a few tips from MF4 I was doing better at staying upwind when not on a foil. Made a few reaches in the light wind near to shore and got back to the beach where I started :). Snagged every kelp head possible. Short break waiting for wind so fill back in and it did. Pumped the 10m and self launched only to have a shore bubble form. I was standing there on Clover point with a kite in the air but no power in the kite at all. I landed the kite and put it away. After a half hour, the wind came back modestly and so I pumped a 12m. I self launched as the wind became more like 10m wind. F-bomb. The cape was flatish so we opted for the rock. Bubble was threatening and flirting with shutting the wind down, but in the end it cleared. Gear repairs on the beach while waiting for the late start. The offshore wind all the way up the Oregon coast had generated wind swell with some girth at Pistol River. Best wave riding session on the wing for me ever! Some head high plus sets groomed to perfection. Only one caught inside moment where I had to toss the wing over a set wave before getting rolled. No carnage surprisingly. Could catch the wave frontside and rip upwind before banking and tearing down the line on a beautiful, big, smooth face. 3m was a little small but was insane on the wave as it was so small and maneuverable with little drag. Looked full on when I arrived, then deja vu as it died after 2 runs on the 810. BWD was working it off Clover so I walked up there and launched off the boat ramp with the 1099. By then wind filled in and I could have launched out of Ross. I needed the exercise anyways. Fun swell and juiced on 4.0 till it eased.

Day 1 @ China Creek and my 100th session of the year. Left Victoria early and only had to spend 15-20 mins in the line up at Cameron lake single lane. Arrived to 15-18kts and flat water at noon. Rigged 4.5m and big board. 5 Wings doing their thing. At 2:30pm it ramped up to 25kts so rigged my 3.9m but as I took it to the beach it mellowed to 20kts again. Another lovely very accommodating day for gybe practice at Willows with Greg and Snarfer. Despite a few warm up crashes on regular gybes, I did end up improving and building some muscle memory. Conditions were not quite as good as Friday's, a few more holes and gusts, but the summer foiling was to die for! Solid 16kts in the bay, while past MTI it went over 20kts. Adventurous afternoon. Efoiled upwind to film the crew and ride some swells. Sure wish I'd rigged smaller foil, yikers, challenging conditions. Greg lost his wing and shouted just loud enough that I heard as I was leaving...saved him a looooooooonnnnnnngggg paddle. Rigged up 4m and small foil, but the swell just died all of a sudden, moved way downwind. That's a rad spot, sunny n hot no wind in rigging area, with killer view...highly recommended.

A great afternoon to have off for wind chasing. Amazing ramps and swell for the first bit but once the cloudy haze crept in the wind dropped off a bit. Some jumps, some good wave face jibes, some swell riding and lots of crashes. Decided to come in to switch disciplines and try the wing again. By the time I was set up to go, the wind was done. Decided to pack it in rather than wait around for the evening session to kick in.

Thought I'd try footstaps today lasted about 15 mins! issues getting started and some cramping situation in the back leg. Had 1hr of 4.0 which faded to very little and fortunately only had a short swim in. Hung around for 1.5 hrs and RB came back to life and had a great 5.0 session with @Gus and @TunaCan ... rolling swell, moon, sunset and mountains, second off the water! Looks like more on tap for Friday and Saturday!

Day and night. New day and new energy. The Cape was in a much kinder mood and the wind ramped up gradually today making for PSC-like slog and ride for the first part of the session. Super fun and my wave count was much higher today. Wings and windsurfers were the crafts of choice today. Sometimes all wings, sometimes all windsurfers, and sometimes a mixed group. Super burritos followed. Surf check at the south jetty to start and finish the day.

Looked great when I got there went out on 4M should have payed more attention Danno coming in to get his 5m. Went out did a couple runs but wind seemed to be dropping off quickly came in to get the 5 but hit the shore bubble, frustrating paddle as everyone on the outside ripping up the last of the swell. By the time I got the 5 and drifted out past bubble the wind fell off even further got a few runs but swell wasn't nearly as nice as earlier.

Caught a quick after work session. Slightly on the light side of 4m, some nice swell with a few making it all the way to the corner but the wind was super light past half way so stayed high and worked the point mostly. Shaggy ripping it up on his old trusty foil, Dave claiming to have already sailed for half the day, and the usual just-say-no-to-work crew out early and hogging it all. More Friday?? !!

Can it get any better that this?
Arrived early afternoon to 14kts in the bay. Quickly OPd on the 5m reduced to 4.0 and still ovepowered for the first hour. Got some of my best swell rides but worst wipeouts. Had the GoPro on for an hour, tried to follow bwd on a few reaches to capture some surf moves but lost him behind walls of water. Got out just in time to save me a swim.

Started the day off right with mooched pancakes and coffee. Checked the jetty then to the Cape. Started with 3.5, got impatient and rigged the 5 then got blown back in for the 3.5. Fun swell hunting below the haunting faces in the rock. Swirling winds and waves in all directions. Got a free haircut from Wingdoc jumping overhead. Finished with a bird bath and a super burrito, picture editing committee then bed.

Caught the sunset session with a small crew of sailors. Pretty flat, but the odd swell rolling through. Gorgeous evening and sunset - wind was pretty consistent too. Last off the water tonight!
