Fabulous weekend at the lake with loads of wind, family and friends. After a lunchtime birthday celebration for Andrea with fresh trout and birthday cake.......spent the afternoon on the water with the Surfwood 70 and Revo. 4.2. Overpowered at times!! If this keeps up I'll have to get a 3.5m sail!!! Kids had a Canada Day parade complete with flags and goodies.......good family times.

:shock: 8) :D Great day OP on 4.5 much of the time. Took Pat's little Starboard 70 litre board with a 4.2 on it for a few runs and was fully powered, felt fantastic, smallest gear I had ever sailed. Made maybe half my gybes. Stayed up much later than anticipated at the campfire with dual guitars and LED toy helicopters for entertainment. Nitinat at its finest, even with 160 vehicles in the camp!

What a great place, met some cool people....The launch can be a bit tricky with people walking through it constantly. Great view of the beach and hills from the water, I had to alter once for coral, but once I passed it found out it was a Sea Turtle on the surface! Good times :D

:D Today was up a notch from yesterday so I was able to use the 4.7 all day. Started out on the Acid 77 but it was just a bit light for it so I switched to the Fish and had fun for the rest of the session. Towards the end the swells got nice on the inside. Warm and sunny and lots of good company. 8)

Happy Canada Day. :D Started at 5am with a trip to Port Angeles for annual road ride up hurricane ridge. Cranking in Port Angeles, spent ferry ride back anticipating a session at Gordons for afternoon. Thankfully Barbara waited for me to get back. Arrived at Gordons, rigged, ripped er up. Fun sesh, smooth, some good ramps, with no bone jarring chop - but had used up all my energy reserves by 6pm.

Pretty decent session. Slogging inside but powered up nicely on the outside. Swell was starting to build just as the wind died. Couldn't hit my starboard jibes today but port jibes were almost 100%. Hit some nice ramps and lost it on a few. Need to work on not spinning out when I land :? Good turnout. Lots of familiar faces :D :D Next few days sound like a carbon copy of today :D :D

Perfect conditions, but I managed to blow two booms :( First one had me on the far shore with a rock beating it into sailable conditions (thanks Chris & Duane for being around in case I needed a rescue). I planed back out of the harness & straps, back out with a second Al boom, which snapped pumping to a plane in the beach wind shadow. I now have a carbon boom (thanks Chris). First time at the lake! Finally.
Took my kid, he launched me. Did a good job to.
I launched in the river mouth, did a few runs.
Mostly screaming downwind!!!
Wrong board choice. I wasn't thinking... I just chose the one I always ride
I even had a much better one for the conditions with me, but... oh well.
Next time!
Dumped the kite a few times, but the relaunch is
instantanious. Ended the session all the way down around the corner,

A nice session with steady wind - good to get out and enjoy the warmth! Got around the point and enjoyed some flat water with Ross and Thomas before coming back and practicing a few back rolls off the southerly waves. Sun was in the eyes on port tack - wear glasses next time! I feel it is tougher to gauge the wind strength with the new kite, since it is almost irrelevant. no lift to speak of...

With the fog in the strait and hot temps in town I thought it was going to get windier. Light along the shore but nicely powered on the outside with smooth swells. Then it lightened a bit way out there and I got paranoid about making it in so I headed for shore but by then the dead zone was getting bigger so I never made it back out again. Only Rocdoc and I on WS's today - I guess everyone else has gone camping.

:D Arrived at 6:45pm to a big hole white caps on the outside. Waited till 7:30 and rigged and went out...pumped and schlogged for 15 mins then it picked up and planed for the last hour, down to Trial and back was amazing...fully powered heading to Trial and made it 1/2 way back and the wind shut off.....YIKES, 2 mins later it picked up and planed back to shore but I was worried for a bit. Played with very little downhaul and outhaul and raised boom to top of cut out.....much better!! Finished just after 9pm ... (more)

Felt really off today. Steady wind and no big crowds. It was a little choppy with the odd nice swell. Didn't do much other than some swell rides. Hopefully get back in the groove today.
