Arrived at IV at 3pm....looked good, forgot my tools, went home and came back still looked okay...rigged up the Formula and 11.0m sail with Morley looking on. There was a bubble out 200m with little or no wind but out a ways there were small caps...I went out and schlogged to the wind and planned to the S end of James Island, turned around and it died down to less than 8 kts.....pumped to a plane on the way back in a few gusts but that was it. Got in some fitness holding up the 11m sail again. Nice enough a ... (more)

Arrived at 2:45, blowing 8-9kts...rigged up while talking to Shark Bait. As I rigged it came down to 6-8kts....was capping farther out....thought maybe...' By 3pm I was on the water and it was 4-6kts....stayed a nice and steady 4-6 for 30 mins before it dropped to almost nothing...good thing the tide wasn't going too quick.

Nice and relaxing sailing in warm sunshine. A pretty good workout holding up the 11m sail......all is good. Just buying time until the Big Nitinat Trip on Wednesday!! Yehaw!!! :)

3rd 9m session in the last 11 days! Should have rigged my 12, at least the 9 was great for the first 1/2 hour. Then it was good in the gusts. Had a lot of Fun, given that the wind kept you guessing. Lots of windsurfers - had to jump one at one point  Sunny, warm, and windy. Can't ask for much more as a kiter :D All kiters off the water at 7:10 - more than 2 hours before sunset! and it was still windy! shame on us...

OK, that wasn't the best day at all.

Came down to the beach and it was blowing full 4.5. Rigged up and it died of a little. OK my though, let's take a big board with 4.5, no biggy. On the way out it felt quite light, on the way in it felt damn no power what so ever. So here I am hooked in front foot in the strap pumping with the back hand and suddenly BOOM I hit a damn stick. Got catapulted, mast hit the nose and that was it for my big board.

So I rushed back rigged up 5.5 and stayed misarably happy i ... (more)

I sailed in a seat harness for the first time with the 8.5 rig instead of a waist harness. Not bad. Around 4:15 it dropped right off but then immediately started to get windier…..whitecaps came up everywhere….so I came in for a rest and rigged the 6.9. Then Kus from Victoria shows up? Missed the 25-30 stuff, 5.8 was nice in the gusts, coulda used 7.5 happily much of the time. Really up and down and windiest for about 10 m strip beside the beach. Made 1/2 jibes or less, but most in gusts. A few nice powered runs, but mostly gust, pump, plane, droop, slog, repeat. Good turnout!

Sweet......for the first half hour and then it turned into a huge gustfest and then it just shut right off. I almost paid the harbour patrol clowns a visit again but I managed to just squeeze in front of the lighthouse. HAd a massive barefoot WALK OF SHAME. I held my head high though. Did some swimming too just to round out the workout. I think I'll chill for a few days.

Nice sandy beach session. The SE started about 11, built to what seemed 12-15. I packed up camp and headed down to check out the closest launch, was going to go south to Comox Spit or Columbia but NLWTFW. Poodle Dave was on the beach on a buggy with a free rig, 3.5 and whipping right along. He liked the Adagio, said it needed a modified nose though  BY the time I sailed it was up to 15-20. Mostly overpowered, flattened the 7.5 right down and shortened harness lines to tame the beast. Lightened ... (more)

Arrived at 4pm rigged the Hyper and HSM 8.0m, started ripping across to Sidney Spit, about 1/2 way the wind dropped off and schlogged the rest of the way. Then picked up again and ripped for the last hour....amazing time with nice long runs down to sidney over N end of James Is. then over to the Spit and back. Super lumpy, not sure why!!! The hyper is fantastic for the small chop, cuts right through it!! I'm going to have to get a new 8.0m as I'm using this sail most of my sailing time...good range! :D

Nice 2 p.m. s.e. push..Spent a lot of time helping newbies. Learned the hard way that if you punch out on the new O.R. bar and don't have the Donkey dick in & have the safety line on your harness you loose a chunk of equipment. (sorry Billy Bob!) Tried the 14 m O.R. 2004 in very lt. wind...Great kite & thanks Joe.

Amazing seshion, Arrived at 11am, got dropped off with my gear. Rigged the HSM 8.0m and Hyper with a 46cm fin. Just perfect for the first 30 mins then pretty Overppower'd...had lots of downhaul, maybe a little too much as I felt like I was going to be catapulted sometimes. Lots of Jibe practice which was what I needed....I'm getting close to pulling off my first fully planing jibe!! Fun sailing with Bruce, Dallas and Glenda.

    Too Much Fun!! Yahoo!!! :D

i had a bad attitude at first, going downwind in the flood, cursing like an absolute goof. Then, thank God, the wind came up and I got out for a while. No waves, but good fun to be out with just Grant. We have a beautiful island, and I am lucky to be able to be on the water!
