Nice day arriving w/ Ruskie for an afternoon late start, thinking it was building but never really cranked. Long, fun session powered on 5.4, whimped out on forwards several shameful times, a couple of lame attempts at backloops. Blew apart my carbon boom right through 3/4" alu rod, go figure. No kites and mostly Vic crew out w/ Doc, BWD, Phat. Tide finally came in to make access better and give us some waves.

Lots of vulcan attempts at first - got 3 nice backslides but no sail grabs yet. Perfect setup for forwards but too chicken (plus it was raining). Not quite enough for the Evo/4.5 but the RRD/5.0 worked well. A good crowd on the water. Got home to see IV blowing a solid 30 knots.

Got to Doug's at 2:00 - 10 knots. During my inaugural trip to the spiffy green huts it whipped up to solid 5.0. Rigged in a hurry and got a great 45 minutes 'till it died. Waited for 2 hours and watched everyone leave then 5 of us got another hour of 5.0 when it cranked again around 5:30. Weird day but a good start to the trip.

When I got there at 7 am it was solid 4.7 weather, but by the time I was ready it dropped to 10 kts. Waited about 20 min. and then the sun came out and the wind came back gradually. I was powered up on the 4.7 about 90% of the time. It was abit gusty/holey but fun anyway. As I was leaving for work it was back up again and Tom was out there having fun. :)

I tryed to kill some time by carefully crusing around until someone showed up to land my kite, so I could switch to a 9m - obiously I was 100% overpowered, I did t ... (more)

Willows is kinda like Esquimalt, if it sucks "sucks" just doesn't describe it, but if it works it's great.

First 30 min of TOW was non planing seaweed hell. You are trying to work upwind in straight onshore conditions, then gust comes in you bear off and then realize that you have whole bunch of seaweed on your fin! Jump down, clean up the fin, waterstart (in 5 min if you are lucky) and the story repeats.

The 1.5 hrs was pretty decent, nice hops, a few duckgybes, million heli's but didn't make a single one today, whazzup with that? Nuked a rib on board nose, ouch! More drugs.

Went back out and the wind went wacky and lightened up. The first session fun, the second session just exercise.

Just powered for 1/3 of the time. One small jump on the bar :P spun out on landing  but didn't fall :) A couple of short wave rides. Want more! Glad to make some dry jibes in the big sloppy chop/swell on outside!

6.0 Retro initiated in great fashion, powered 2 hrs, then had to look in Port Angeles for waves/wind - afterwork crowd killed it! Fair amount crap in water, watched rescue of rescue boat, quite a show! Some good highspeed airs, tweaking sail setup, couple of reasonable duckgybes, never been out further than today. Mark rode shotgun for a while, later got lonely out there by myself, didn't wanna spend the nite so came in.

What a blast :!: Cook delivered a big afternoon. Highlights were a good amount of wood in the water, and a diverse selection of fin grabbing vegetation. Started on the 5.0, sailed for a bit. Some helis, and downwind 360s. should have rigged up to the 6.4, but laziness took over and it became too damn comfortable being a spectator. Some guy with an ezzy sail tried a maneouver in front of me and nearly took me out - didn't get the plate number.

Left the 7.5 off the truck, would have been perfect choise. A short while in the straps. Beautiful day to be on the water, even schlogging. 8)

At last! Really Fun, blustery and warm 9m kiting. A fantastic time, truly enjoyed myself out on the water for the first time in a long time. Kited almost all alone out there, before the 'after work crowd' showed up.
