Rigged the 5.0 Retro for the first time and got on the water around 2pm. Promptly returned to shore and rigged the 8.0 Retro. At 3:30 the wind picked up, got a good hour of planing in and finally figured out how to get into the back footstrap comfortably, trick for me is to go for it right away as soon as the front foot is in. Wind calmed down with some planing gusts until 5pm. Saw Steve leaving with a barnacle injury as I was setting up.

Day 12 at CB for me this winter. What an amazing spot and another great day. Nicely powered on the 4.5 and some great powered up wave rides. Put on the 4.0 and had about 3hrs of comfy sailing. Nice rides even at low tide. Lots of back loop attempts but kept landing on my head.

So glad that Vancouver trip was cut short. I thought the party was over when I got to CB and everyone was packing up their 4s and heading home. But the wind came back and I was juiced on 5.0 for 2 hours. Couldn't catch a wave to save my life today but had some nice jumps and back loop-like thingies. I don't want this spring to end!

:D :D :D Arrived at 9am, Jimmy and a couple other kiters out 12/16's. I rigged 6.5, and couldn't plane. Rigged the 8.0m just as it picked up and ripped on the 8.0 and Carve 121 for a couple hours. Then it picked up again and went down to the 6.5 for the last hour and a half. 6 tacks made, no jibes made....too much wave-age for me!! When I left there must have been 15 kites either out or on the beach. Just as I'm packing up two windsurfers went out on 5.7's and Morley was rigged 5.8m.

    Too much ... (more)

:( arrive at 11am...blowing 20+ and kinda crazy, drove to Ross Bay, looked too holey. drove back. rigged Carve 121 and Stealth 6.5, lit up on the way out then it dropped down below 15kts. Now I know what it's like for you guys on your smaller gear....YIKES!! Yes, 6.5 is my smallest right now. Ended up down the beach by the spiral stairwell. Went out again made it back to just below the reef. Waited 20 mins, came up again to 15kts. Went out and it backed off. Came in and decided for my first Kook St session ... (more)

Drove to JR with the wind increasing as I drew closer. 5 min before the beach the wind shut off. Turned around to get a session back at Kook. Kook St. seemed squally but hopeful. Got suckered out in a squall, sailed for 10-15 min, sunk to my waist, swam in. Waited for the next squall. Lit on the 5.0 for a bit, threw some fun flat water forwards (MUCH easier but scarier when overpowered). Don and Tim were out as well; enjoying the freezing weather.

It took me half the beach and smaller waves to get past the break. I got tired too quickly because I was way over powered. Should have used the new toys from Dunkinguy(I had smaller gear just sitting in my van and I didn't use it.). I enjoyed 2 runs toying with the moving walls of water. This was the first time wave sailing for me on a windsurf board. I had a great time!

On the water at 730am, just me and the sea lions. tried a 5.9, that was dumb. 5.0 was perfect for the next 2 hrs but I had to exchange the freesex for the smaller atv. Got surprisingly dialed in considering ive sailed neither board before. Worked on my stay dry jibe, a few forwards and back loops. a bit lonely untill the kite dudes hit it at 9. It started cranking as i packed up, i was too tired to rig down anyway. the atv is slippery as hell, if anyone has a ½ jug of re-deck give me a shout.

Everyone else went to JR - glad I didn't since this was big enough!! Totally sore all over. Great chest high sets at Muir but didn't get up there.

The lagoon was protected from the wind and waves except out much farther(I wasn't planing on the inside when I first went out). As the wind filled in closer to shore I moved in closer to my launch site. I should have been on smaller gear but I love the speed and prefer to stay out of the cold water between the gusts. By 5 o'clock the wind speed was up near a steady 27 knots at the beach. The wind was too much for the gear I had rigged but I was way to tired to rig and derig.

The day started by me telling Morewind we might only get 3-4ft waves and 20kts out there. Well we got 2x that. Rigged the 4.5 first and got a nice hour of fantastic wave sailing. Then it nuked and we all rigged 4.0's. It was comfy at first then it got a little crazy. It's hard to wave sail when you can't sheet in. Some nice jumps and one huge scary wetsuit soiler wave ride - it looked like it was mast high and I sort of rode it, but mostly ran away.

We need more days like this (10 knots less next time plea ... (more)

Squirrely day at Esquimalt. Showed up at 1:30 and it looked about 5.0 but a bit gusty. I rigged a 5.4 and by the time I hit the water it had dropped to about 12-15 knots. Went out anyway and slogged to the wind. PLaned underpowered for about an hour. HAd a couple good jumps and jibes in the puffs but mostly underpowered. Spent most of the time trying to get back upwind to my van so I could rig my 6.0.

At about 3:00 the wind totally shut down and I was stuck way offshore and way downwind. I eventually dr ... (more)

Short but reallllly cool!

    Ezzy Wave SE 5.0
    Naish Outlaw 4.0
I'm green with envy for the JR boys, but Kook put it on nicely for a while. Waited for nearly an hour for the wind to pick up for the 5.0. Sailed for an hour or so maxed out. Rigged the 4.0. Still felt huge in the big puffs. The reef was going off like I've never seen, and huge overhead ramps were to be found on the outside. VERY gusty. Had some very big jumps and a few fun forwards. It's been a while since I sailed in conditions like that! Good day.
