Forecast was iffy, so went with the 8m. 6m would have been good. 1' shore break, but a nice 4' swell further out. Best day I've had at Island View. Hands were a bit cold, but stayed out for more than 2 hours.

Finally got enough wind to try bsc 890, although not much swell to start. Loved it not quite as fast as 999 but very turny without feeling twitchy and much higher lift and lower stall speed. Once the swell got a little bigger it was so fun can't wait for bigger days. Also when Danno yelled my name I turned around and saw a huge dorsal fin coming straight at me right in the middle of a jibe, please don't fall...

Followed Mtnarg and Idefix shortly after 1pm and was rewarded with a sweet foil session. Great to see all the wings and Bobson out in the playground. Unusually warm with favourable winds made for an outstanding time. Started with Cab5 and then switched to Cab6 for the second session since it felt like the wind was reducing. Overpowered, but manageable. More days like today please. This was on 13 March.

A whale tale!
Noon, arrived to a silver sea perfect for the 5.0. Followed MtnaG, already on his second shift, into some 20 kts and 2' swell. More wings joined in and by mid-afternoon, I was making good use of my windows. Chasing WindJunky to the outside, we were greeted by a small pod of orcas. I got off foil to be a good neighbour, gave them a moment and sailed away humbled. Nice to have them around.

Arrived at 11 with nobody around. Looked windy, but with a decent amount of north in it made it flat and hard to read how windy it was' went out and mowed the lawn for an hour solo. Came in and the foils started coming out of the woodwork. I warmed up in the sun and chatted to Marty who said Harling was the Ebb spot. Went back out and and met Tweezer up at clover and we downwinded all the way down to McNeil. My first time down there. Swell was much better down there, but lots of current and a bit of confu ... I thought that maybe it was Sunday or a holiday when I arrived with cars all the way up the hill. . Gusty and mostly 20ish and some small swell. Had to pull out the big gear to make it work. The 1225 is such a nice and lifty and smooth foil and still turns well. Got a bit more used to the harness today so that's good. Still hard to hook in tho.

Got off work early and headed down to find an RBFC 'on the water' meeting going on with 14 Wangs on the water as I drove in. Goat Hill was busy but somehow there was a parking spot 4 spots up from 'Pole Position'. Thanks Atomic!! Ok, now for the good stuff' arrived to 15-20kts and mostly flat water. WooHoo!! Chatted with GMAC for 30 seconds and then hurriedly rigged up a fairly flat 5.2m Flyer and put on the 800cm2 front Foil for some speed runs. Got out on the water with the small board about 7 m ... Really wanted to try new foil BSC 890 ,not much wind but thought I would test the low end . Got up twice with lots of pumping just enough to see it will be fairly fast and a lot more lift than 999. Got tired of trying so went in and got the 1150 foil which still needed lots of pumping as wind was getting even lighter. Good to get out with quite a few others considering the rain and lack of real wind.

Quickly jumped in with Greg and I figured Cab5 would be enough as Bobson was already ripping it. After I pumped up, Gus asked if I was going with a 6m. Hmmm. I quickly got up downwind, but it was a real chore to lift upwind so I switched to Cab6. Greg was already switching. Great move. Got some nice long flights from the beach to the islets. Rain was a bugger at times, but the stoke from the big wing group out there made it fun! Worked on S turns but didn't try riding toeside. I was already falling in enoug ... (more)

Low tide, long walk to foil depth!
14:00 Inspired by yesterday's sailing logs, I made the trip to San Pareil. First time on a low tide and I realized that I really need local knowledge on any rocks lurking in the shallows. I played it safe and put in by the webcam where I observed other foilers before. Considerable push against wind and waves to get to foil depth but well worth the effort. The 20 kts cross wind generated organized swell lines most impressive on the outside. I started on the 6m and 1 ... (more)

Arrived to 10-15kts. Started to rig the 6.0m Flyer FR but then the gusts were 15-18kts so derigged the 6.0m and rigged the 5.2m. Good thinking Bobson! Wind was 13-18kts for first hour then dropped to 10-13kts so I came in and rigged the 7.0m. When I went back out it was 8-10kts for 15 mins then picked up for last 20 mins. Everyone had already left so just enjoyed the last 20 mins with absolutely flat water. Conditions that are my fav! A little chilly on the hands and basically poured for the whole 3 hours. ... (more)

Tried to catch the high tide this morning and had hoped the wind would be strong enough to sail inside the lagoon. No dice, so it was a water start/beach start day with 2 foot to 3 foot swell. Left once it got too rough. Met idefix on the way out and reassured me how nice the lagoon can get in the summer time :D Nevertheless, still made progress today.[/img]

Whoa! Easy on the shore breaks!
10:30 Arrived at the park, Slickmick just packing it in from a morning session. Nice to put a face to the avatar. Cross-on! Whitecaps in the bay with 1m shore breaks, Nice! MtnarG arrived just in time for another fun session. We were greeted with consistent wind and swell, lasting well into the afternoon. No need to venture very far today. Good swell lines just inside Clark Rock.
I love this place!

Nice sail today. 1 kiter out when I arrived. I headed out just and kiter left the water. Nicely powered on the 5.5 and the JP 111 free style wave. Some nice swell outside. Joined later by Udder and Hajo. Some sun at times and temp. on vehicle thermometer was 8-9. The wind still seem quite cold.

Great session, finally getting the feel for it. So fun being lit up with large swells. Amazing to watch the other winger out.

Had a great 1+ Hr session on the 6m with Idefix. Wind ramped up and I didn't feel like pumping a smaller wing so I packed it in. Idefix did a couple more sessions.

Arrived to 10-12kts and rigged the 7.0m Flyer. Up and down a bit for the first 2 hours with big lulls of 6-8kts and gusts of 10-12kts so there was some schlog-time. Came is and called home and got the green light for another hour except I stopped the GPS. Ugh!!! Started it again and headed back out for another hour in 10-15kts which was strongest of the day. Travelled way down to SE end of James Island then all the way back up to the campground at the point towards Cordova Bay then back downwind to James Is ... (more)

Not much energy in the tank after ski day yesterday. Great conditions, impressive swell on the outside. Came in for a smaller board after a painful spill. Lasted for a couple reaches and called it a day.

Thought I could catch the morning wind. Saw enough wind when I arrived at IV. After rigging and getting on the water just gusts left. Caught 2 gusts to get foiling but then not enough in the lulls to keep going. Good hour workout though.

Watched everyone having fun all day but when I got there it was dying. Felt like enough for big gear at Clover but decide Ross would be easier to get out to wind line . Got ready and by the time I hit the water it shut off drifted out to the end of Clover hoping it would come back with no luck .

Early start. Idefix and Highrocker joined a bit later. Great 3 hours on the 5m, then the wind started to die. Switched to the 8m, but didn't have the energy to keep going. Lots of successes. Very good day.
