1000 we were up and packed. The Mexican was loaded. Youbou Jim (Grumpy) had arrived with his wife the night before. We were now a pack of 4. We hit Windance right away for a weather check. Mosier was a complete white out on the way from Memaloose. Forecasts were calling for 25-35 everywhere. Hit Rowena again but no chance. Big boys coming off the water on 3.2's! It was meant to be a little weaker to the west so we drove out to the Hatchery. When we arrived it was going off. We over heard some locals saying it was by far the best day of the year. Smooth 6-7 foot swell with over 30 knots. The Gman and I rigged the 4.2's, Grumpy an ancient 4.4. We had perfect peeling waves for over 2 hours. Grumpy managed a very over powered run but decided it was better to have air in his lungs and retired to the beach for a front row seat. The wind started to come off a bit and we were bagged, so we grabbed some lunch and drove back to Rowena. G did one run and said screw it. I was stupid enough to go out for an hour before retiring. The hands and arms were cooked. One of the best days I have ever had in The Gorge! :D
