Felt adventurous. Beautiful scenery with snow falling in Mill Bay, and later Cowichan and Saltspring. Wore old rain/windbreaker and that really worked well to keep core temperature up. You know its cold when you're blasting upwind and you get brainfreeze! Unfortunately my fingers turned to wood immediately and I knew it'd he painful. But wind dropped and while slogging back had the most excruciating thawing in full body pain as it seemed my body decided to stop waiting and pushed freezing cold blood back towards my heart. Was heading in and almost back in when I saw the wind pick up to ~25 and my fingers were almost circulating/pain subsiding so went back into it. Wind was too up and down but had some short wave rides. The 890 foil with the 400 progressive rear seems like a really good combo, nice and turny but stable. So fun that I'm actually riding waves now! Rode a gust and wave back into the protected Moses Pt beach access and called it as it dropped, and then built back up again. Maybe a bit too North, but really nice spot for the NEs. Other than the horrible lee-shore situation when you're out in the channel (better than a different country though).

Going to wear gloves next freezing day and just deal with forearm pain from now on. Don't seem to need gloves above ~5C. 6mil wetsuit may be contributing with lack of circulation to fingers too.
