Arrived at 12:30 and it was white capping on the far side. I got settled into my site and got really excited for an epic day of kiting. There were more folks here than I expected including a group of cool and enthusiastic dudes about my age setup where I was. Two of them were racing to be first on the water. I was ready to go too. One of those two guys dropped his kite in the water as I got a launch from another of that group. That made me the second on the water! I took the Tiki first and went as far as I have ever gone upwind. Way past Knob Point to where the wind got fickle. My Tiki is an upwind beast and a sweet cruising board. I then made my way back leisurely and came in to switch to my brand new Duke 3 with a quad setup. Excited for it, I had a fabulous time on the new Duke but I am not sure about a quad fin setup. I'm going to switch to thruster tomorrow and see what I like better. I did lots of good foot changes and then spent an hour doing tack turns. I am super chuffed to have made several of them on both sides. Some were better than others but it was a blast trying. Loads of wipeouts during a 3.5 hour session! I was nearly the first and definitely the last when I came in after an incredible session, and as I came in, for some reason, that group of guys burst into a bunch of cheers. I am not sure if it was for me but I want to think that it was. Afterwards I sat on the beach, full of gratitude for the day and the place , I had a couple beers and watched the sun go behind the mountain and then I put my kite away. Unbelievable amounts of Nitinaht lake came out of my nose when I bent over to pack the kite! Glorious day!
