Arrived early at 10:15am to 5 degrees and a sailboat race right out front of boat launch and then they took off South. 8-13kts so decided to rig the 6.0m as it should have picked up a bit, I thought. The Twizz arrrived to see what all the hubbub was about. He decided soccer was more important than foiling and handed out Twizzlers to everyone who showed up early. Then Paul arrived and looked excited and began to rig. I headed out but it took a bit to get foiling, needing a 12kt gust as I was using the 6.0m and the 800cm2 front foil as I've sold my bigger foils awaiting new gear from Santa. Came in after 1.5 hours to grab a drink/snack and warm my fingers. Decided to re-rig and use the 7.0m Flyer as it looked a bit lighter. It was but the wind was also steadier with less gustiness. More like 9-11kts which was perfect for the 7.0m. I was wearing the 2mil palmless which work fantastic, I definitely suggest them. If I had known how good they were I would have bought them years ago. good grip and no forearm fatigue and fairly warm. Still feeling under the weather so didn't have a tonne of energy for the endless pumping on the 6.0m. Lots of Wings came out including PaulRedVan, The Drunken Monkey, MtnarG, The Notorious D-O-G, MotherF4, Greg(needs a name), ULR and the Twizz cheering from the sidelines. 2.5 hours and 50+kms, sunshine and almost warm at the end. I'll take that everyday, but will rig the 7.0m from the beginning next time. I think I like using smaller sails, I chose 1 size too small sometimes. Hoping I've learned my lesson. As BigD says..... Bigger is Better!!
